Hmmmmm.....! I am not sure where ravenhon got information but it's over the edge for correctness...

No, parents cannot force you to go to work regardless of your age and where you live, even if you lived in your parents home forever...GULP...!

As for their ability to take what income you earn while living with them, yes, they can until you are no longer a minor. Once you become of legal age, you alone can decide your income usage and if they don't agree then they can simply tell you to leave...

However, you have a more serious problem than school or work...assuming what you say is 100% truthful...

Eduation is far more important than a part time job and parents know that. Why then are your parents showing more consideration for your partime job than they are for your education...?

I somehow have the feeling you are not presenting the entire story here...

You need to find a way to organize your life. Calling in sick because you have other things to complete will get to be a bad habit. Your parents know what you have been doing all week so I have to go with them on this. Have you done anything besides work and study your projects this week?

Is this a joke? You have the right to respect your parents. You have a right to start working on your projects, as you call them, the day they are assigned to you. You have a right to be fired for such a poor excuse to miss work. You have a right to be thrown out in the streets to make your own way and feed and support yourself. You have a right to pay your parents for the comforts that they pay for so that you can survive.

Yes they can make you work. It's legal in nearly every state. Further, since you are under 18, they are legally entitled to all the money you make. It's the law. Fortunately most parents don't enforce the last one.
