A little light exercise should help you calm down and also warm you up before the game. Also, hang out with family or 1-2 good friends. Talking about things in addition to the game should keep you distracted.

Good luck with the game!

I get nervous every time I go out in front of a crowd and give my seminars. What I realized and I think you will to is that you are not actually 'nervous' but 'anxious'. Anxious to get out there and have a great game. Anxious to play a game that you love with other people who love it too. It seems you have a lot of energy so I would 1) Change your point of view from being nervous which carries with it negative emotions and understand you are anxious which can be positive 2) Spend a little of that energy on some light exercise. There is nothing like getting the blood flowing and the heart beating to lift your spirits!

I always get nervous before games. Being nervous is good, it means you care a lot about football. You can't really control it, you've just got to use it as fuel to get fired up for the game

stick to yourself. daydream. don't talk a whole lot. if the coach is speaking during a pregame talk, listen to him. if you have an ipod, that would also help you out. review the playbook a little bit, it would help you out. when i played, i looked over the playbook the night before the game, and the morning when i woke up. on the bus, i daydreamt to keep me calm and relaxed. don't think about what if i screw up and blow the game. think about how many butts you are going to kick.

ive been balling for years .

when it comes to games , pay attention in team talks and coach runs and imagine yourself doing it on the field. imagine every movement and how you are going to respond if things happen.

it helps alot . and sit down together with your team and chat it out . its likely that everyone else is nervous too.

good luck buddy . have fun
