this isn't much info to go off of...but if you are letting popularity get to your head and acting like you are better than others and using it as an excuse to do or get what you want that would be a reason they would say you are selfish.
Try treating everyone with respect and the way you yourself would like to be treated if the above is the case.
If you are already treating people nicely and this isn't the case then I say don't worry about what others say, they are probably just jealous to go about your business.

People just dont associate popularity with being selfish. They have a reason for thinking u are selfish. I know tons of popular pple with loads of friends. At the same time i've met those who are popular and are braggy.

OK your popular but with who the elite crowd come down a few notch's hang with a few people you haven't talk to since grade school I'm sure your on some committee for something in school well get more involved do something for the whole school not just the upper crust do something say city beautification pick up trash plant a tree get dirty and be seen doing it no oh look i broke a nail just git r done

think about that. would you call someone selfish because they are popular? probobaly not. there is most likely another reason. maby you are a little selfish. think of princess diana. one of the most popular people of all time and one of the most unselfish. or how about jesus? point is... people can usually see you for what you are and people will give you an appropriate title.

If you are popular, Use your popularity positively - Help some one who really needs to be helped in any way possible.
like visiting the sick in the hospital or caring for the homeless or feeding the hungry All this will make you more popular and you will feel much happier

What I really don't understand is: If you have so many friends, and you're "popular", that means you must be social and generous... so how the hell are you selfish?
People are very jealous. They probably envy your social lifestyle. If people are calling you names, don't call them names back; you'll never sink that low. Ignore them, and enjoy having friends while you can.

I have never connected selfish and popular. Maybe snobbish and popular.Just don't have your nose stuck so high in the air that you forget to look down and be friendly to those that aren't so popular.

Well you can't make yourself popular, people do. So don't take it so hard. The people that enevy you wish they were in your shoes. Just be humble and polite and keep 'KOOL' because it doesn't last forever. Remember that. So be good to everyone because you might need their friendship when your not so popular.

well are you mean? im popular and to try and not make people think im bratty or selfish i talk to other people and hang out with different people...ive been to my school forever and ive always been popular...so people dont really think i am

i had the same problem but then i noticed i was being a biotch to all the people and it was int who i was i moved to a different school[not because of that because of us moving]
and i noticed i was a biotch just like a girl named Katy in our school so change and still be popular just not mean and don't brag cuz its really immature
