The computer makes the engine run rich with plenty of fuel and a higher engine RPM on a cold start. So that covers up any hot idle problems like you have. At hot idle, any small air leaks via the vacuum lines, engine gaskets, EGR valve etc cause a lean running engine that idles rough and wants to stall. So you have a "lean misfire". First you make sure your ignition tuneup is up to date with good spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Then you start diagnosing the lean misfire using a propane tester for example as discussed in the reference below. What you can do yourself is add a carbon removal product to your fuel tank that helps remove carbon from your engine and valves.

It's either your coolant temp sensor or coil pack.
I'd go for the sensor first as this acts as the choke system and it seems your is stuck open.
