Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, whilst travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

Only in Britain can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

Only in Britain do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in Britain do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.

Only in Britain do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.

Only in Britain do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.

Only in Britain do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

Only in Britain do we let millions of foreigners come over, dilute our democracy and send all our money back to their own run down sh!tty countrys.

Sounds more like everywhere in America to me. Although here we also have places where people live in huge mansions and have wrecked cars all over their front lawns and their lawns are mostly weeds or dirt. Then again if you have ever seen a redneck bass boat which is a lawn chair sitting on a pair of two-by-fours with a trolling motor (2 and a half horse power) you will know that as far as stupidy goes and us being the younger country, we still have you beat.

Every word...true! Just as well we have a sense of humour coz we all need one to live here. Only in Britain there's a War Against Terrorism but once a year it's ok for EVERYONE to set off bombs in the name of fun! (Nov 5th Bonfire Night). Only in Britain are we told to be careful who we answer the door to especially at night and we tell our children to not accept sweets from strangers except at Halloween. It's a funny ol' world! (sorry we know the terrorism isn't just in Britain)

Sounds just like the US to me. LOL

I know people think it's so wierd for people to drink diet coke and at the same time order something fattening.....but I'm one who does. It was so tough to get used to the taste of saccarin or the other sugar substitutes and once you do...drinking sugared sodas was like drinking syrup.

Forgot something, I think....if it's anything like I've heard that is similar to areas here......only hear do you need a translator to order your burger and fries in your own country or get customer service questions asked and answered.

Sounds an awful lot like the good old U.S. of A., except the supermarkets do have their pharmacy counters in the front or center of the store. It's the drugstores that have them in the back!

I gotta agree with the others, you could substitute USA for Britain in that. So living there sounds like it would be a lot like living here.

Sounds like New Haven, CT to me. It's not only in Britain.

A difference I noticed--British curries are very sugary and sweet, while actual Indian curry actually has some kick to it. We have both of those available here in New Haven. Mix the two together and you have sweet and sour ;)

Not only in Britain. America, Canada, and many other modern countries follow suit.
