What do you think on the subject of banning the sale of fireworks to the general public..
Personally, I love watching fireworks, but due to safety issues etc. I agree with the ban.

What are your thoughts?

I love going to organised displays but as a dog owner, hate the fact that anyone can buy and let off fireworks at any time. On our estate the fireworks started last night at 4.30pm and went on past 10pm (it hasn't even been Halloween yet, people!). That will continue for at least a week, maybe two. Our dog - like many - is terrified of fireworks so trying to take him out for his evening walk and loo duty is a nightmare - he either won't do his business or would just run home again given half a chance.

I'm not a killjoy but people just don't consider other people and animals when they are letting off fireworks at all hours and for a fortnight either side of 5th November. I wish fireworks could be limited to organised displays 3 or 4 days either side of 5th November and not past 10pm so that my poor dog at least has a chance to get out at some stage in the evening!

Well, last week I came home to find that the fire brigade had to break into my home because some stupid idiot had posted a firework through my letter box setting off my fire alarm/smoke detector. Fortunately no major damage was done but as I live on the ground floor of 6 flats, the kids upstairs could have been KILLED. A sad fact of life that we live in an age where moral decency & responsibility have gone out of the window.Bring back the Birch & let's sort this country out.

I love fireworks and don't mind the neighbours having firework parties either. The problem is kids get hold of them and they are going off for weeks before bonfire night and weeks afterwards, normally during the night. Kids also throw them at animals and passers by. It is the minority ruining it for the majority. I think the only way to go with this is a ban for sale to the general public or to increase the age of sale significantly. Or if you want a private display at your house you need to go and get a permission or a licence at the local council. Fireworks in the wrong hands can be too dangerous.

I totally agree, I think for organised displays fireworks are ok but I don't agree on the sale of fireworks in small corner shops/bargain shops/supermarkets as they can easily fall into the hands of people that don't know how to use them properly, basically kids and some of the idiots of this world who use them to terrorise people and animals. Lets face it fireworks are explosives aren't they and you wouldn't want someone to sell bombs in your town or city.

I was in the fireworks business for 15 years in the state of michigan. here if it flies or goes bang it's illegal. The professionals do the shows the general public has a selection but nothing spectacular. The van is boring but saves limbs

Yeh i agree, unfortunatly there is too many irrisponsable people around and its just getting out of hand if they did sell to public the sales should only be done on the day of bonfire night 5th nov,and not before or after because theres so many going off well before that date and after

i believe fireworks should only be put on sale the night before bonfire night that way they are not used weeks before and that way i think the injuries caused by fireworks would decrease seriously its not a case of just banning them its using common sense

I like fireworks too but there is way to many dryed out things. They should do fireworks on the water (on a surface of course) but on something that wont catch fire. :)
