I do not think that there is a "best" antivirus. There are many available with several of them free. To improve security, you must practise safe internet surfing.
In case you would like to change your present antivirus to a different and presumably free one, please be informed that the uninstallation of your old antivirus may not be as simple as you think. This is especially true when trying to uninstall the Norton antivirus. Instructions to carry out whatever you may have to do should be available in the internet.
For your information, two popular free antivirus programs that you may consider are Avast home edition and AVG antivirus.

I use AVG free edition. It automatically hooks up to the internet and scans once a day. It hasn't let me down yet.
