I received the following from a friend. Does anyone have evidence this is fabrication?

Nancy Pelosi:

"We democrats are going to address this issue after the election when we take control of the congress. We will return to the 60% to 80% tax rates on the rich and we will be able to take at least 30% of all current lower income tax-payers off the rolls and increase government income substantially. We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest."

"We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'."

Should we start with Congress's high salaries, bennies, and investments?

Mr. Moden, can you authenticate your comment, factually? I am interested if this is in fact a fabrication, or an actual quote. One reason i put it out here for comment. Thanks for the warning, but I need to track it down.

Mckenzie... but we are not supposed to be a "democracy", are we. Aren't we a Representative Republic?

2007-10-28 04:08:23 · update #2

Bravo, Linda E Exactly waht I think. We need to start by making Congress equal with us in obeying the laws of the land for the citizens of the land.

As long as they escape the consequences of the laws they pass, we suffer those same consequences.

Was it Orwell's "Animal Farm" where the comment was made, "We are all equal, just some are more equal than others."?

Thanks, Justanot.. Hmm...is the fact I can no longer find any work in my professions part of the TriLateral's scheme to silence my non-conforming voice?

Much more satisfying than that I am old and fat and ugly!!

Nigelshi...can you support your allegation of fakery? I'd like some facts other than "it is obvious"... why i put this out, to get the facts. thanks for getting back with proof of your allegation.

KS. I have not seen the proposals. But do you include Congress in the selfish greedy category? How about our national Hero, Al Gore?

I submitted this reported comments for evaluation and finding out if this was truth or a fabrication. Still undecided.

Thanks for your input.

FOLKS, please attach references to your comments, if you know them. I want to know IF this is correct information, and if not, also the proof references that it is not.

I have opinions, but looking for proof one way or the other.

Thanks for all the input so far. I appreciate it in my search for truth.

Mstrywmn...please read CAREFULLY before you react. I told you my source, and I asked if anybody had evidence this was faked. You seemed to attack me with no proof of your own!
Show me where this is incorrect, and I will be as happy as if you cannot and so let it stand.
But read before you knee-jerk react!

Misslilbit ... thanks for the manners lesson. It is appropriate we follow good manners, tho I have become used to other approaches. But I appreciate the defense.

I did check Snopes over, once medium, and did not find any references either way to this reported quotation. So the issue is still, far as I know, undecided.

I am going to query my source for more details.

K,S. please check your math! Give me a corrected figure!

Thanks, weeha, for locating the Snopes site.

It appears the "quote" is fraudulent, and while taxes and big ones are part of the plans, these particular ones are not.

It is always unfortunate when someone grabs something without checking and sends it around, as my friend did.

My apologies to those who got upset, and to those who were offended by my asking.

Thanks to those who checked, and to those who responded in detail. I agree with the majority of responses, just need to rephrase the question to reflect what seems to be the truth about the actual tax and spend position of Ms. Pelosi.

It seems on here there is great resistance to the idea of transferring wealth by government taxation from the rich to the very poor and especially to the illegal aliens.

Thanks to all the responders, and I am going to award the "best answer" to the one who answered the question of if the quote was correct or not with pretty good proof.

Thanks to all. Even the nasties!!

Alexander F. Tyler said, "A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of the treasury with the result that democracies always collapse over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a dictatorship.'

This is why we DON'T have a democracy, yet others want it.
This is why we have free speech and freedom of the press, to PREVENT this from happening.

Raised standard of living by giving them someone else's money.

Anyone else see how destructive that is to the rich, poor, the country, the world economy?

Anyone see any reason our richest and most 'job-producing' individuals would stick around under those circumstances?

Do you think the people wanting this kind of Robin Hood scheme don't know that?

Why would they want our jobs and money leaving the country? Why would they want us economically worse off?

And when the rich leave, aren't middle class the new rich?

Do you think you won't be taxed to feed this monster you've created? Do you think the standard of living will stay where it is or go where every socialist nation goes?

Down.

It is a FACT!!! Don't worry. They're just about to get their a55es handed to them here shortly. It's funny what they perceive as being rich. They also go after those who have independent ideas separate from their collective marxist thought processes. I think its also funny that the very rules they have established through the years, they don't even wish to follow when it doesn't convenience them. My final observation is this. They are all just plain mentally unstable. Its either that or they want socialism The one thing that tipped me off to all of this was i learned of the AFL CIO supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants. That nand the fasct that several of the papers written for the Trilateral Commission make mention of the labor organizations being a key component and one of their oldest and successful projects in using to help establish what is commonly referred to as the New World Order through Democracy. Keep in mind though its not the average worker(who is a member of these) pulling the strings. They are just mere pawns being used for a socialistic agenda. If you don't see it their way, they will try to destroy you. This is why when they mention democracy, they are actually talking about socialism. The only way to properly defeat this is by restoring a "constitutional representative republic", offering competition in money printing and issuance(that actually backed by silver and gold) Following what the privacy act of 1974 stipulates and not allowing anyone other than the socialsecurity administration to have your social security number (or common numerical identifier if you prefer), taking a noninterventionalist approach on foreign affairs, and severely diminishing the funds that the government can use in order to shrink its size back to acceptable levels. Also did the people realize that labor organizations are "Federally Protected"? Its time to get back "True Freedom and Independence." Its still there, just covered under the socialistic blanket known as Democracy. However with it comes more responsibility on each individuals part to be able to make their own way through life. However your chances of succeeding increase 1000 fold. I just find it horrible that they say they are for the ppl, when in fact what they say and what they do are very opposite. This is another reason why i WILL NOT do government work.

Mystrywomn: Actually yes i can back my part up. This i'm quite sure of.

Looey: Don't worry i got copies before it disappeared...........several copies. :)

Hi Friend! Go to snopes.com! You should find answers there. I have used it a lot and found what is true or false!
And I would like to say to those on here that are rude about this question, stop it!
If a member wants to ask a question with the request for research for FACTS, then they should, this is why we have Yahoo! Answers! It is rude and mean to say the things I see posted as "so called answers" on this question. This is part of what is wrong with the world, people need to remember the saying; "If you can't say something nice, then DON'T say anything at all".

60-80% tax rates ??? Hahahah, where did you get such outlandish numbers ?

Worst case I've heard is adding 9% tax to the highest bracket. Oh no, someone making a million a year will lose $9,000 a year.

People are suppose to work together as part of the system, not abuse the system for themselves. What we have in America now is a majority who'd throw anyone under the bus to save a buck.

Never once do these selfish greedy people realize that the more of society that's taken care of, the better the society as a whole is that they are part of.

No. The democrats and the republicans are owned by the rich. They plan to bankrupt the middle class paying for social benefits for the cheap labor who will then compete with us and drive our wages down. Then the rich will make even more money. The democrats especially hate the middle class working people. And the union bosses help them screw us workers. That's why so many workers are refusing to join unions and refusing to vote democrat.

Nancy Pelosi does not live in reality, nor do many of our elected officials. Why should any ones hard earned cash be taken from them and given to the poor. What Pelosi is proposing is Socialism, plain and simple. Life is about choices, the choices we make and the consequences thereof. Make good choices life treats you kind, make bad choices and suffer the consequences. Maybe what we should be teaching our young people is how to make good choices so that their wealth one day is not redistributed to those who make bad choices.
Perhaps we should begin with the redistribution of salaries of Congress.

People really are gullible. That was a scam email that was sent out prior to the 2006 election. It claims to quote Pelosi from an interview that never took place. Right wing blogs picked it up without ever bothering to authenticate it.
