multiple choice
1)to add a touch of winter to the spring, and to make the snow melt faster
2)so the flowers don't look too good, and the autumn leaves don't either
3)to keep the sun from growing (on its own, that is)
4)to put that extra touch of sadisticness into the workweek, that 'spring' in a person's step; and to create stress about fall taxes, retirement, etc
5)it's what keeps the cuckoos alive

Because the length of daylight varies greatly during a years seasons (in the higher latitudes) due to the tilt of the earth's axis of rotation relative to the sun, Daylight Savings allows more efficient use of the available sunlight for human activity. Importantly, it helps offset peak industrial and domestic electrical loads. Power stations must have enough generating capacity to serve the combined peak loads even for an hour or so and the expensive equipment must be idles at other times rather than generate revenue to pay for the equipment. Other practical considerations include such issues as how dark it will be when school children are walking to school or waiting for a school bus by the side of the road.

Daylight savings time was an idea put forward to get more labour out of the working classes.
Back in the day when an 8 hour shift was a dream a guy called William Willett came up with it so that people could work longer in the evening without it getting dark.

This has come up several times already, try research for more details.
Originally, it was to give people working 9-5 jobs more sunlight in the evening to save electricity during WWII. Then it became a convenience, now it is back to energy saving.

By law.
During war time they found out certain advantages of doing so, so they use the change in time to get those advantages.
There are some advantages to day also, so if the law allows then we do it.
Main advantage to-day is that it helps conserve energy.
Very soon ,next year I believe the law will change in USA, I do not think it will disappear but change over period will change back to the original time frame very likely.

think of approximately it. in case you're saving sunlight hours, what are you doing? you opt for sunlight hours to final longer. and to establish that sunlight hours to end later than favourite, meaning sunlight hours has to start later than frequent. so we circulate the clocks forward. so even nevertheless the sunlight rises at 6 am, we expect of that is increasing at 7 am. so as to remember we are saying spring forward and fall decrease back. meaning interior the spring we circulate our clocks forward, and interior the autumn (after sunlight hours mark downs is over) we circulate our clocks decrease back.

It's all down to one man who used to get up at the crack of dawn and go out riding and he noticed that in summer people were still in bed while the sun was still high in the sky he got Parliament to install British Summer Time because the Germans were going to start doing it and we've been doing it ever since.
