Bit wordy and not sure what you are on about.....are you saying that the best History is that which is based on first hand accounts...well yes that is right...but that person has to interact with others who also have their own view of meetings, incidents etc...so two people witnessing or taking part in the same thing may have a different opinion of what took place....it is the Historians job to check as many sources as he/she can to get the most accurate view of what took place. The best thing to do is to read anything by an Historian whose views you think are the most knowledgeable and accurate.

Totally disagree. Since when is biography life without theory? History can be the results of a culmination of biographies. History in itself is not based upon a singe biography.

You will only gain knowledge,by expanding your horizons.Antonia Fraser has written good books about historcal events/characters.
