The mature men and women I've met are compassionate towards rape victims, as well as other victims. Immature men and women, on the other hand, can be extremely glib about things they have no experience with, especially victims of violence.

A couple of the men with multiple accounts on Yahoo are very sick: They discuss rape as a joke that doesn't happen to men (which is a lie), they talk about rape as though it only happens to women who "deserve it" (how any human deserves rape, I don't know), they make fun of rape victims, and they send emails to women threatening them with rape. They're not typical humans, let alone typical men.

There is a fairly wide spread perception that somehow any rape victim at least partially gets what they deserve. I don't think getting snatched off the street and violated is viewed like this, but those cases are comparatively rare. Most rapes are between people that know each other, so the notion is that the victim took things too far, or changed their mind after. It's stupid, but unless you've had some exposure to a victim, you really don't know.

out of all the men that i have met in real life, only two of them were insensitive to rape victims. I dont think "most" is a good word to use here.

the ones that were insensitive were extremely immature, like still adolescent immature.

as far as the internet? my best bet would be that the men on here at least that are insensitive or outright hostile to rape victims have either a) never had to deal with someone they care about or even know getting assaulted or b) have been accused of it in the past in a situation where they did not see it as assault.

Where the hell did you get that idea?

That said, men who haven't had sex in intervals measuring years, usually not by choice, usually in a state of extreme depression, desperation and so on very often end up being ENVIOUS of rape victims (and of women in general). Hey, at least they are getting laid. At least someone wants to have sex with them. Beyond the insulting exterior you can see this clearly in many of the trolls here.

I don't think that most men do lack compassion toward rape victims. The few bad apples who do lack humanity.

I know there is still a stigma associated with male victims of rape, and this is terrible, because this crime is way underreported due to the shame that it causes.

I think some men see it as "just sex". For example, the other day someone asked a question on here asking why rape victims don't just enjoy it because it's "only sex, after all".

Most men I've met have been indifferent to rape victims it seems, I really do wonder why.

Most men who ever had sex with a female or male as adults and who doesnot have any constraints of political correctness are as compassionate towards rape victims as all other victims of aggravated assualt.

If you want anything higher than that, rape should be something higher than aggravated assualt. Hyping works only for short durations in time.

It's not most men. There are a few particularly inhumane sorts who like women to be kept in their place at all times.

Who says we are ? Only because we are not in favour of putting ALLEGED rapists on display or because we feel innocent untill proven guilty should also be applied to rape, doesnt mean we are uncompassionate.
