I get sorta irritated, then I think it's cool that it's so sensitive. It might save my life one day.
I'm not always so optimistic, by the way, I just need to think of a reason not to rip it off the wall and throw it out the window.

Was it normal toast or burnt toast? At least you know the smoke alarm is working (it is scary how fast a house can burn with some fires and at least you know you would wake up in time to get out if at night because nothing else might do that in time). Those smoke detectors really do save lives. If it was me, it would be me burning toast and I would have to laugh at myself for being dopey and burning the toast :) (last time was a while ago, but the alarm went off pretty much the same second as I smelt the toast burning). What's even better is if you live in an apartment complex where the fire alarms are all hooked together and you're taking a shower and some one else makes toast and sets the fire alarm off. Now THAT'S fun.

I actually replaced the one nearest the kitchen with a carbon monoxide detector.
I figured, being near the stove and water heater was a good place for it, plus it doesn't go off every time I saute an onion.

its very annoying. I always gotta get the broom out and wave it over the fire alarm. its soo annoying, and hurts my ear lol. One time i got mad and took it down for a while.
