Women have been doing it for years (I never understood what's so unattractive about some fuzzies - I think it's cute) and now it's gone so far that men are waxing chests, etc.

What gives? Why are we trained to hate our bodies and their natural attributes?

All right, look - I didn't say anything aginst personal choices. Once the custom is in place, as a reasonable person I wouldn't want any restrictions on anyone's personal choice to follow whatever grooming ritual they want. And I'm not looking for asthetic comments about why you choose a particular ritual. I also don't believe I'm painting anyone's culture with an overly-broad brush - just look at the magazines, or in the locker room at any public pool in the U.S. What I'm driving at is - how did the custom ARISE?

Different strokes for different folks. Some popular reasons may include, but are not limited to:

1) A person may fee younger
2) Muscles can be seen better
3) Some people reek, and smell better with no hair
4) Old fashioned vanity
5) Insecurity with self

Personally, I stay hairy. I prefer my women not hairy. I don't harbor judgment towards hairy women, I just don't prefer em.

Please don't try to paint an entire culture with a single brush. Here in Eugene, Oregon, I have met some truly hairy women. Sasquatch love child, some of 'em.

The whole fashion industry had led us to believe that hairless skin is more sexy. And lets face it, how attractive do most people find a hairy body compared to a smooth one? Personally, I'm not bothered by natural hair unless it starts to get ridiculous. If a woman has hairier legs than I do it would be a bit strange. (I'm quite hairy, so I've never met a woman hairier)

It does reduce sweating and doesnt make you feel dirty and low on confidence as the day is ending.
I dont have much hair on my chest but I prefer to keep the place clean.

I also hate shaving my face often, I wish to find someway to get a permanent solution.Does anyone know anyway to do away with the regular shaving work ? I wonder if any men think that way.I have a serious problem coz it grows back so quickly that I cant afford to skip even a single day

I don't mind body hair on men, I like it if it's not too much. Some people think it makes them look/feel cleaner, and I know personally that wearing nylons is NO fun when the legs are not clean of hair.

Funny how different cultures have different tastes/habits.
You may find a few American women who don't bother at all.
For myself I don't like how it looks so I get rid of it.
Football players here shave their legs, forgot why; something to do with bandages for muscles for something to that effect.
Other than that I find it weird a man would want to wax, that's more of a female thing, to me at least.

That's just the problem. It's a good thing we have people like you that stop and think about it instead of just submiting to the tred and do it.I personally don't like it because I think it's unnatural...for men but for women-I to think it's rather sexy but I prefer the ones with no hairs but that is complex and another question.Anyway this is called feminisation-men are becoming women, today we wax our chest tomorrow we put on make up.The Bible says "Men shall become women, women shall become men" and this is pretty much where western civilization is going I really don't know why...yet.

In the west men have a weird fascination with prepubescent girls. Every guy's fantasy is getting with a teenager or younger schoolgirl. That is what attracts men I guess.

I shave my body hair becuase it looks more feminine. Guys are supposed to be the hairy ones.
Also looks cleaner and more neat and tidy.
