Does over the range microwave build up moisture from the stove below?

When ever I use the stove to boil water, etc.below my over the range microwave without using the exhaust fan, I have trouble using my microwave. This time the magnatron blew. I this a common problem with over the ranges micros

I had a GE Profile Spacesaver microwave built in over the cooktop in my last two homes and never had an issue. Could it be that your microwave is not one that was meant to be over a range?

Yes it is microwaves should be kept away from any steam or moisture
