I would not say it is pure luck. If it is luck, certainly not pure? lol But there is news out there, but there are large investors too that can manipulate markets to some extent. I never know when they will put in or pull out of their markets?

Picking the next Microsoft, or Home Depot (may be) luck. Otoh, if you picked the Total Market Index VTSMX, you are up some 1500% since 1982. Not necessarily luck, just going with the flow.

The Stock Market is not pure luck. It's never been that way. It's a long term investment stratagey where you keep your money in the market and add to it and average about a 10% return for all the years. This is substantial and is sometimes called the 8th wonder of the world. Way more than you can make at a bank but with more risks. In any event barring some unforseen catastrophe in the world you will average 10%. Just don't ever pull out and they re-invest. That's called market timing and you will probably get burned. Most do.
