not exactly. lets re-examine the question. could this be the first year an NFL team goes 15-1 and not get home field advantage through out the playoffs? Ok you are assuming that the patriots go 16-0 and the Colts go 15-1 for example. Ok both teams will get first round byes and get to host the Divisional Playoff game the week after the Wildcard game. Therefore both teams get home field advantage for that playoff game. But lets say the Patriots lose at home then Colts at 15-1 have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Its only true if both teams play each other in the Conference Championship Game.

Colts 16-0
Pats 13-3
Colts get homefield advantage, beat the Jags in the AFC Championship game, and then beat the Redskins in the Super Bowl.

One of those three above possible outcomes could occur
1) Indy has already played their divison rivals on the road already while NE has to go to Buffalo.
2) That NE/INDY game is going to be THE GAME OF THE YEAR (Sorry folks the 2007 AFC Championship Game gets the GAME OF THE DECADE) That game is going to answer 1 of 2 questions (Are the COLTS better than Last Year or Is NE THAT GOOD)
3) Both team will visit Baltimore later in the season, NE has already played SD (and won) Indy will play them later on this season
With those three things in mind - Who ever wins the GAME OF THE YEAR, is going to have a shot of going 16-0 and with the way the other team has played this year, I think that both teams will keep the QB's all the field to go for home-field (Even if their division is wrapped up and they are in the playoffs) THEY WANT HOME-FIELD!
But, in the end both teams will go 15-1, with the winner of the GAME of the YEAR getting home-field

Both of them will lose a couple of games at least.
Remember 2 seasons ago when the Colts started 13-0? Or what about Denver in Elway's last season? They started 13-0 too. But in both cases they decided to rest their starters.
Same thing will happen here. The winner next sunday is likely to clinch home field advantage, so they can relax and let their hurt players recover for playoffs.

could be but odds against either going undefeated are pretty high. Colts are my favorite NFL team. Pats are my second favorite. Pats look awesome this year but Peyton sure doesn't like the cold up there. Neither team will relax or let off the gas pedal while home field throughout is up for grabs.

The Pats have Washington, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and the New York Giants coming up. They will lose at LEAST one of those games. I say both finish 14-2.

I think the Patriots are gonna be in charge of their own fate. If they don't stumble or get a major injury? I think the Dolphins Record is in jeopardy.
