if power failure, earthquate, lighting or some other issue, will these factors affect VPN transmit in satellite? If yes, any counter measure mechanisms? any appropriate hardware/software solutions for these threats?

When the power goes you go.

Your best bet is to have some sort of emergency power available. The satellite will still be working but unless you have power you won't be.

There are several ways to so this. One is a simple UPS battery backup system which your computer, monitor, sat. recver and modem are plugged into. That will keep you going for a short time (30min. to 4hours depending on the size of the UPS system.) UPS is short for Uninterupitble Power Supply.

The other additional method which used with a UPS makes you online period is to add a local power generator which automatically turns on when the "grid" fails. These are available from many sources. (some even from Home Depot, Lowes, Northern Tool, etc) They simply supply AC for you when the grid dies. These run off gasoline or propane etc and can run your system for days. Data Centers use backup generators to keep critical systems on line when power is gone. You can get one big enough to run your whole house if you want to spend the dollars.
