okay here are some of the newsweek arguments and my counter-arguments:
Considering that Benazir and her husband are one of the most corrupt power-abusers of all time and most of their allegations after the sad blasts were turned down by the government and analysts alike with powerful evidences, I am shocked to see NEWSWEEK giving a cover story in support of her! What amazes me is the fact that the story also reports about 'streetlights being *mysteriously* turned off' minutes before the blast when local TV footages show the street lamps on! But NO, the NEWSWEEK guys are stuck up with the skewed reality that is being propagated by Ms. Bhutto!
Its a fabricated article that lacks proper supportive material and repeats all that has been said over and over again (and rejected by authorities and analysts alike)

Oh and thanks NEWSWEEK for telling me:
that I live in the world’s most dangerous country
that there are militants surrounding me all around here in Karachi. i wonder why i didnt figure that out after spending all my life in the city!
for telling me that the society I live in is based on militancy.
for shattering my reality of the world I live in.
for showing me how skewed the version of Pakistan you share.
for putting all the blame on Pakistan and sharing none with yourself or American regime.
for showing that the Islamophobia is gaining magnitude in the west.
for telling me how much you hate Pakistan and its people.

EXCERPT: "Whoever the real culprits turn out to be, the truth is that Pakistan's government has only itself to blame for the carnage in Karachi."
I wonder why you say that! Benazir herself neglected all security measures!
Her supporters were told to keep distance from the Terminal 1 of the Karachi Airport as a security concern - they neglected that and broke through security barriers!
She was told to use the specially designed bullet-proof glass on top of the truck she was traveling in - she neglected that.
Her supporters were told over and over again to keep away from the truck - the not only neglected that but some of them even jumped ON the truck.
Her bodyguards passed on bouquets and flowers without inspecting them.
And these are just a few of the long list of security breaches on part of the political party itself!

EXCERPT: “The conventional story about Pakistan has been that it is an unstable nuclear power… “
I wonder why the IAEA hasn’t given it a though and given Pakistan a safety clearance! Maybe Osama is after all running the IAEA, right?
EXCERPT: “These Islamist fighters now operate relatively freely in cities like Karachi…”
Define *relatively freely*. I haven’t seen any guy carrying an assault rifle and a hand grenade running around in my neighborhood lately.
EXCERPT: “Militancy is woven into the fabric of Pakistani society. At independence in 1947, the country's whisky-swilling founder, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, used Islam to forge a sense of national identity.”
Wow, and I always thought I was a peace-loving chap… gee, thanks for telling me that I’m a part of society that fundamentally comprises of militants. I’ll better ask my next-door neighbor about their next free-blow-up trip.
Mohammad Ali Jinnah was DID NOT drink, you morons! And the Two-Nation Theory is a reality not fake!

EXCERPT: “Gen. Zia ul-Haq turned Pakistan into a base for the mujahedin... and won billions in American aid in the process.”
Gen. Zia did that… but at whose orders? The US Regime!
EXCERPT: “For decades Pakistanis were taught that the guerrillas were Muslim heroes…”
Oh I’m sorry but I cant really recall anyone teaching me anything like that. And I grew up during the Soviet War myself.
EXCERPT: “Taliban fighters ... come and go as they please inside Pakistan. Their sick and injured get patched up in private hospitals there.”
That's implying that the US and NATO forces deployed at the border are doing nothing at all? Come to think of it, the US cant protect it’s easy border with Mexico and now their home-grown magazine points fingers at Pakistan for its failure to make its mountainous border with Afghanistan! Such hypocrisy and duplicity! F.Y.I Pakistan already has implemented the maximum hi-tech protection to secure the border.

I suppose with the cutting-edge technology that the US and NATO forces have, it should be a piece of cake to stop these border incursions.
Oh and please do mention those *private hospitals* that you believe nurse the “injured terrorists”!
EXCERPT: “He's (alleged terrorist) moved his family to a modest neighborhood of nearly identical brick and mud-brick houses in Quetta.”
Wow, so why don’t you tell the authorities in Afghanistan about this? And I wonder why Afghan forces aren’t able to arrest them? They can call the Pakistan government with proper intelligence information and a request for the extradition of the criminals!
EXCERPT: “…he (NEWSWEEK journalist) looked around, he saw the smiling jihadist sitting a few tables away … “
Would you explain why don’t the journalists cooperate with the agencies to arrest these *criminal masterminds* when they can even recognize them by face, have their permanent cell numbers and enjoy lunch with them!!!

EXCERPT: “Still, radicals would not need to steal a whole bomb in order to create havoc.”
So, like, nuclear bombs can be ‘stolen’!? Like, in a briefcase or something?! Sheesh!
EXCERPT: “Pakistan has never made a public accounting of its nuclear materials… The ads (about radio material) were quickly withdrawn after they incited fears that fissile material had gone missing…”
Pakistan HAS made public accounting of its nuclear assets. The ad you talk about was to make sure that none of the nuclear material that was NOT on the records (there are no records from pre-partition era or early independence era) could go astray. The ads were NOT withdrawn and have appeared in newspapers even after first publication.
EXCERPT: “He recalled that after 9/11, a group of rogue Pakistani nuclear scientists met with Osama bin Laden.”
And what about the meeting of US Intelligences agents with Osama back in April 2001 (I suppose) that was even reported in many Western investigative documentaries??

First USA should give Pakistan the proper and latest equipment to seal its border with Afghanistan then criticize Pakistan, I wonder how Americans can only blame Pakistan for Taliban attacks? Since all 35 NATO nations are in Afghanistan with their latest equipments USA itself is there with the number one technology in the whole world, Afghanistan should care about its borders but yet the whole world and specially USA blame only only only PAKISTAN.
We all know that USA can't secure its easy border with Mexico with its world number one technology but they expect Pakistan to secure its Mountainous border with Afghanistan, i just wonder on the hypocrisy of Americans.
Securing Pakistan Afghanistan border is a joint joint joint responsibility of all NATO and specially AMERICA & Afghanistan & then PAKISTAN.
And Pakistan has lost more troops & civilians than USA or any other country for this so called war on terror.
USA and WEST first look at their deeds then point out their fingers on Pakistan, USA must must must give Pakistan the latest spying equipments otherwise they should not expect something from Pakistan which is not possible even from them.

AND LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ONNNNNNNNN, All USA is doing providing ARMS & having nuclear deals to Pakistan’s number ONE enemy India and despite of that asking Pakistan to do all for them. WOW what a friend is USA if of Pakistan.
& REMEMMBER THAT “PAKISTAN IS NOT AN COUNTRY SO USA OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY MAKE THEIR MOVE AND GET AWAY WITH IT”.

Is THIS SOME sort of joke! Oh my GOD! Compare Pakistan and the rest of the world....Pakistan is no way the most dangerous city in the world!
You must go to Pakistan to appreciate it. It's blooming FANTASTIC!!
Pakistan is a women's world! I know you may that find that surprising but it's true. Pakistan has more female lawyers, parliamentarians and MP's than any other western country!
Pakistan has more entrepreneurial businesswomen than any other country in the west. How many female drivers do you see in central London....a majority of them are actually men. Now, compare to Islamabad where you even get female taxi drivers!
I will be registering my protest asap! Thank you ever so much!

Funny how countries that have little free speech and almost no ability or interest in reporting crimes of some types are held as "Must be better than the U.S." which does have free speech and DOES report such crimes.
More rapes and child abuse in the U.S.? Insane. That's like asking one person in Kentucky if they have ever raped anyone or killed a child, then doing a full investigation of all major cities in Kansas regarding everything from date rape to child spanking, then comparing them.
What nonsense.
This article in Newsweek is the same thing. A strong hearsay piece purely designed to make things worse in an ally of the United States. I've often wondered at Newsweek's motives for these articles, which it pumps out weekly. What stunning contrast to anything patriotic or pro-American. Tokyo Rose (bless the real one's heart who was absolved of the crime) comes to mind. The truth is being claimed, but it isn't the truth speaking.

I somehow, not totally agree with it that pakistan is a dangerous country although i am a PAkistani but i dont think that it is the most. USA is the most dangerous country, not only to others but to its own ppl as well. When the europeans(later white Americans) came to america they killed millions of red indians, they made black dick africans slave and mistrated them, they nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki ,killed thousands in Vietnam , still killing many in iraq and afghanistan. US invaded iraq because they said
saddam has weapons of mass destruction but no weapon has been found until now. So who is the most dangerous country ? pakistan or United ******* states of america.
Shariq u r doing a good joob. keep it up those motherfuckers r always against pakistan. But pakistani themselves are not united. We need to unite and fight with those who fight with us. this is not terrorism or extremism, it is right . those assholes like musharraf are selling pakistan and they claim they are economically stabilizing pakistan which is not the case ,they are actually de stabilizing and using pakistan military agaist itself. They r the one to be blaimed for the abuse of pakistan.
pls mind my spellings and grammar.

Kind of surprising considering most of the recent dangers to have taken place there have to do with the US doing something mean.
Pakistan itself is mostly a mouthpiece for US officials these days. At least it was, I know the people were calling for new officials because of this a year or two ago but I didn't follow up on that story.
