There is no limit on how young a person can be to OWN property, but you must be at least 18 to PURCHASE property in the U.S. When you purchase property, you have to enter into a contract, and minors lack the legal capacity to do that. However, a minor can inherit or be given property. If that happens, a guardian is appointed by the courts to manage the property for the child until the child turns 18.

Depends on your state laws. Some say 18 yrs old is old enough to sign a legal contract, while some say 21 yrs. old. Check with a realtor in your area.
