We usually go to the beach and drink a lot of beer ; if there is a beach nearby. LOL
Well, a lot of people do. Actually we follow a lot of the same customs ; Christmas is still a time when the families get together. We even have hot Christmas dinners even though the temperature might be 40 degrees celsius. Gifts are usually exchanged on Christmas morning.
Many people still go to church on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

Not everyone is able to have Christmas at the beach.
I usually start the day by cooking breakfast - english muffins, eggs and bacon for my family and several drop-ins. Then it's lunch at either my parents or inlaws, consisting of a hot roast lunch. Followed by a period of time when everyone is too hot and full to move, it depends on which house we at on how bad it is. One has a good AC unit and the other a lousy unit.
Dinner is usually leftovers at whoever we didn't visit for lunch.
The day is ended with declarations of next Christmas we are going to the South Pole for Christmas or why didn't Santa bring us a pool?

Our family usually has time to open up one gift before going to church. Then it is home and finish off the present opening. Lunch is usually a cold dinner with roast chicken, pork and sometimes turkey with salad, stone fruit, lots of drinks, hot plum pudding and ice cream. Then we all sit around with the Christmas carols playing on the CD and let our dinner settle or go for a swim or visit rellies. Sometimes if we have a cool day we will have a hot roast for dinner.

The beach is the tradition, but if it's really crowded or a really hot day, we just lie around at home with the fans running, and pick at food. As for Christmas dinner... I've heard most families have seafood instead of a hot roast, with lots of prawns.

Yeah it's a shame that we never have white Christmas over here :)
But this gives us a chance to spend some time outdoors, maybe at the beach or in a park, have a Christmas lunch picnic, etc.
Plus it gives the kids a good chance to play outside with their new toys!
