I recently pulled my kick a** acoustic guitar that's been sitting in my closet for ages. I got it tuned to perfection and now that I have some free time I wanna see what this baby can do.

I like punk, emo, indie, and alternative music.

Any suggestions?

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMTzg It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.

i have had an electric powered guitar for decades, yet I were given my first acoustic 2 days in the past. the first track I discovered change into "stress" by Incubus. it really is fairly straightforward, even though it really is this style of fairly track. you could also likely attempt "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zepplin. i like the sound of that a lot more suitable suitable on acoustic than electric powered.

Try some of The Buzzcocks's songs. Some of them are of a slower tempo, some are faster for when you're ready.

Yes - why not try writing your own song? You can base it on a song you like if you want to, or you can (if you're talented) come up with something completely new. I would like to see you come up with something original, even though I might never get to hear it, because its always cool to come up with your own original song. Good luck!
