Cancun has turned into a city on a diminishing beach. We don't go there any more we go to this place instead.

Playa del Carman... Shangri-la Caribe Resort
when you visit Shangri-la Caribe you will experience the simple and warm hospitality that is a hallmark of our Yucatecan roots. Ours is a joyful, smiling atmosphere that is the tradition of Mexico. A thatch roofed resort with a variety of room styles is clustered right on the beach. We cherish our natural inheritance - the jungle and the sea and offer their treasures for your appreciation, understanding and enjoyment. Shangri-La Caribe is located on the outskirts of Playa del Carmen, which offers a rustic flavor with a tone of remoteness.

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
Just out side of Cancun. Not a party place. Just style and relaxation and everything nice.

The Beach is back. But do not book anything from these people...How can Pastor International Marketing, S.A. de C.V (PIMSA) stay in business???
They are website host and designers/copiers, not a Travel Agency. My families vacation was ruined by this bunch and I really don't think I will ever recommend them to anyone, ever. As a matter of fact, I will tell everyone that I know not to Set up a Wedding, Rent a Room, Car, Tour, Airport Transfer or anything from these Fakes ever. They took my familes vacation money and destroyed our vacation in Cancun. We didn't get anything promised and what we got was telephone hang-ups, and lies. If they were in Canada we would run them out of the country. The owner was trying to get fresh with my wife on the phone when she made the reservations.

I'd like to know as well.

We are going in December and I've read mixed reviews - some say the beach is gone and some say it's been partially restored.

Even without the beach - the "beach area" they have with the chairs & beds looks awesome! We could always go to a beach elsewhere for the day I guess.

it really is an fairly sturdy hotel, I stayed there like a year in the past. If u have the all inclusive you need to truly get excitement from it. It has like 4 eating places, has a residing room, an excellent sea coast, it really is totally large, once you're hungry at 5:30 there's a cafeteria the position you could make warm dogs or eat popcorn, and so on it really is fairly fantastic, has sturdy resturants, and has a sturdy area.
