How come we cannot go to a large telescope, pay a fee and go see for ourselves the evidence. They would make an absolute fortune if they opened a telescope to the public one day a week so we could go see for ourselves the flag, the buggy and other stuff left there. Do you think it is because they are not really there??

And another thing I just thought of....How come it has taken so long for the official photographs of the moon to be released? I read that they were only released publicly this year, over 35 years later. Why the delay? Is it so that they could have been doctored with new technology that has only recently become available?

The objects left behind are too small and too far away to be resolved. Telescopes have limited angular resolution and the Moon is a quarter million miles away. Since the objects are, at most, several feet across, they have angular sizes in the range of a couple milliarcseconds. Some of the smaller ones are only microarcseconds. At any rate, this is far smaller than the maximum angular resolution of any current telescope.

You already can see the evidence for yourself. I've seen videos of professional astronomers bouncing laser beams off of the retroreflectors left behind on the lunar surface. These reflectors allow astronomers to precisely measure the distance to the Moon. Also, independent radio telescopes, only when pointed at the Moon, detected the Apollo transmissions. If there hadn't been a ship on the Moon, they wouldn't have heard anything. And these two pieces of evidence are only the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot more to the lunar landings than just pictures.

If you're having any doubts about the landings, check my source. You'll see why pro-conspiracy answers, such as amy t.'s, are absurdly ignorant.

This a good link for anyone who believes the moon landings were faked, it gives as simple as possible explanation for all the reasons that are used to claim a hoax

http://www.redzero.demon.co.uk/moonhoax/

Currently there is not a telescope on Earth, inlcuding Hubble in space, that is powerful enough to produce such a view, the things left behind on the Moon are tiny, as someone has said, 'like looking for a car in the Sahara'. It is unlikely that such a telescope could be built.

The reality is that Neil Armstrong was the first human being to step on an alien world, the Moon, it would have been impossible to fake such a thing in 1969, the 'tech' simply did not exist.

As for the bit about the pictures, these were released to the world's press immediately, this may have more to do with US copyright laws, in otherwords, you had to ask permission from the owner for the use, this would be common for any copyrighted material. Certainly the pictures from the Moon Landings have be used extensively in the UK since 1969 in books, magazines, record covers etc.

Basically, it's because even the biggest telescopes we have aren't able to focus on something as small as the lunar module base that got left behind - remember that thing was *tiny* actually, it's only like 10 feet square. And the flag is even smaller. :)

A number of countries are sending new probes to the moon over the next few years, and at least one or two will have cameras able to see things with the resolution needed. However, I'm *positive* that the same people who claim that the lunar landings were faked will claim that the probe pictures are faked too.

For that matter, if we *had* an earth-based telescope that could see it, they'd probably find a way to convince themselves *that* was fake too.

The photographs from the lunar missions were released at thetime. I don't know where you got that nonsense.

As for a "telescope to see the flag,etc."--not eventhe Hubble telescope has the kind of resolution to resolve an image that small a quarter million miles away. And even if it could, scientists have better thingsto do with gigabuck telescopes than cater to the delusions of some crackpot conspiracy theorists.

Finding a flag on the moon would be like trying to find a grain of rice on a beach. there is not telscope powerfull eneought to see that good. where did you here that was over 35 years to relice the photos. The photes were reliced soon after. There is nothing to hide we landed there so stop saying we did not!

It would probably cost a trillion dollars to build a telescope that could resolve the moon landing modules, and NASA doesn't have that kind of budget. Besides, putting a quarter in to see the moon landers for every sceptic wouldn't pay a fraction of the price necessary to maintain said telescope.

For all the people talking about stars. Why would you see stars it was technically Day time on the moon, and by Day time I mean when the sun is shining directly on to the moon. I am pretty sure you cant see stars during the day on Earth

I don't know how powerful the most powerful telescope, but even with the most powerful I doubt you could see a moon buggy.

Don't you people ever sleep?

Since your first question has been answered, and your second question makes the first one look intelligent:

If the moon landings WEREN'T real, then:

Where did the hours of footage of preparation come from?
Where did the hours of footage of weightless astronauts come from?
What did the hundreds of people at tracking stations AROUND THE WORLD think they were tracking? (Unless you think that they were in on it.)
What did the hundreds of thousands of employees of Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, and others think they were building?
Where did the 360-foot rocket go that was watched live by thousands of spectators who were there?

And finally, do you honestly think that the only evidence of the landings is PHOTOGRAPHS?

If you had a powerful enough telescope and knew where to look you could, Try finding a car in the sahara dessert from the moon!!
