This is a very common situation in couples. Women and men see things differently. Men see how much money they fork out during the day with their woman, women see how much effort they put into the relationship. That is just a typical situation, not for all couples. However, the point still stands. A man will always struggle with spending money. Men dont like doing that. However, what is he going to say? 'No, you arent worth it?' No, he cant say that. Therefore, he just forks it out. In my situation i end up budgetting and dropping something off my list of things i wanted for myself just so i can make up the difference. Therefore, you both need to find ways of connecting in different ways. Communication rocks, just talk about it. Let him know how you feel. If he cant communicate with you then you might have more issues than you think.

My ex boyfriend would always be on my case about him paying for food and everything else. I hated it. Tell your spouse that it hurts your feelings when he keeps reminding you of the things HE buys. Tell him that while you appreciate his help he needs to realize that you are trying to help yourself as well and his words against you aren't helping. Cleaning the house and cooking are BIG too. Maybe you should just give it a try and stop cleaning and cooking for him and pick up extra hours at work. When dumbass complains about the mess at home or the lack of home cooked meals tell him you're just trying to "make the bacon." ;)

I agree with Tim S, you two should sit down and talk about finances. Not always an easy thing to do, but try and remain calm about it. Hope you two can work it out.

He's just doing a bit of moaning and groaning; but he'll change his tune when he sees the greenbacks your bringing home. Work out finances with him so everything's clear.

Maybe he doesn't feel appreciated. Do you ever just bring him a cold beer after work and watch TV with him or participate in his hobbies? If you show him or even tell him you appreciate him he will stop asking for your $

Buy him a nice HD big screen tv with your first paycheck. That should shut him up.
