because of hope. somewhere, even if its very far away is the hope of happiness. sure there are hard things in life, but where would we be without the good times? as I think someone else said, whats the alternative? nothing. if you don't like your life, work towards making someone elses better. give something to future generations, to make their journey to happiness a little easier. therein lies the reason to live.

Human life is obtained after going through many
lower life forms according to Upanishads.

"In the Bhāgavata there is a verse. It is said there, labdhvā su- durlabham idam. Idam. Idam means “this.” This body, labdhvā, you have got it. Labdhvā su-durlabham idam. Su-durlabham means it is very rare. This is not very cheap. The body of cats and dogs or animals, they are cheap, but this is not very cheap. Su-durlabhaḥ. Bahūnāṁ janman… Labdhvā su-durlabham idaṁ bahu-sambha- vānte. After many, many births, at least, 8,000,000 births of different species of life, we get this human form of life. It is stated in the Bhāgavata, and similarly, all Vedic literatures, they corroborate one another. It is… The person who can understand, he doesn’t find any contradiction. The same statement is there in the Bhagavad- gītā: bahūnāṁ janmanām ante [Bg. 7.19]. So this human form of life is obtained after many, many births of lower animal or other than human form of life."

The Supreme Lord maintains all living entities, and especially human beings, to elevate them to the highest perfection. After many, many births in lower species, when a living entity evolves to the human form of life.

In the process of evolution into human life, many from lower births also come up to the human level. All these are controlled by superhuman powers or by the Divinity, God or Isvara Himself. Further, rebirth need not necessarily be on this earth plane alone. It can take place anywhere in the universe.

The alternative is nothing at all. I like my life, it has been full of adversity, but I do the best I can with my limited resources. I am trying to leave a reasonable legacy, so that peoply won't say that I was a ***** or worse but think of me in terms of 'she tried to make a difference'
