OFF the peer or seashore. Not from a boat, for those who don't read the questions through.

I am still an avid fisherman. I strictly stay to shore or river fishing. In Az there is very limited fishing in comparison to Colorado. I have come close to mastering Bass fishing. My favorite is river fishing within Utah Wyoming Idaho & Gunnison Colorado. Blue mesa Resevoir is prime trout fishing from the river that feeds into it. The arkansa river and miracle mile are also hot spots. I am not a bait fisherman. I have fished the snake river from Washington State into Utah.
I fish strictly with flies and lures & believe in catch and release

Yes I have fished from the pier and the shore BUT not the seashore. I'm from Wisconsin the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and we fish in creeks, lakes, and rivers. Yes, I can attach bait and I can throw out a line...I remember learning how to cast and looking back I have to laugh..I got it caught in trees, my hair.LOL! I am definitely not an experienced fisherman. I prefer fishing from a boat, there is something so relaxing and beautiful about it. I haven't fished in a while and would like to learn to fly fish...that looks like some fun.

I go fishing every chance I get. I bait my own hook, clean the fish, cook and eat them to. If some one goes with me, I expect them to do their part of cleaning, cooking and eating the fish that we catch. Oh and yes I can throw my line from the pier and shore line. I don't live by any ocean so I can't throw from the seashore. And I have fished from a boat as well. I love to go fishing.

Yes, I have been fishing in the seashore. I spent most of my young life going fishing with my parents on Saturdays. When my father would place the fish he caught in the bucket, I would pour salt water on them to keep them alive. I could not stand to see them die.

The last time I went fishing, about three years ago, I was unable to put the bait on the hook. My son-in-law did it for me and it was fun but I could not take the fish off the hook. I guess I am not a born fisherperson.

Yes we are big on fishing in the south. I line on the river and the Intracoastal waterway and ocean are just a mile or two away.
I can attach bait. I prefer walking in the 2-3 feet surf gigging flounder to all other types of fishing. Shrimping is fun too.

Yes, and I can cast a line a great distance. I usually fish off shore, but have on occasion fished from a pier or shoreline. I bait my hook, I like squid for bait. I clean the fish and gut them. I let my husband do the filleting because he is so good at it and fast.

It was so funny when I was learning with the 15' pole and the heavy weight, the first few times I cast I almost threw myself in. I also went deep sea fishing in Montery Bay in California. My girl friend and I were the only 2 females on a boat full of drunks catching each other under the boat. What a hoot!!

I was about to answer that I've been fishing in the Chesapeake Bay (from a 16-foot boat with outboard), not far out, but then I read the rest of your question.

That close to shore, about all you get are croakers, spot, blowtoads (useless things) jellyfish (also useless) and a few others that I can't recall (it's been 50 years, folks!).

I've never been fly-fishing, but I'd like to try it sometime.

Sure. I've gone fishing since I was five years old. Over the years I learned all the basics...even filleting, which I prefer to leaving the skin on.

Just as a bit of added information...the very best fresh water eating fish in Canada is what we call Pickerel. The Americans call it Walleye. It has the sweetest flesh and most wonderful flavour fast fried with butter and a bit of lemon and dill greens....truly marvelous!

Yes, from shore {as well as boat}. I love fishing but we haven't for a long time. I have no problem putting bait on. Then I cast out. I find it a really relaxing and fun time.
