No offence I'm sorry if I'm being rude, first of all I just want to say I am not a racist. But I don't like rap, hip hop, or R&B. Now I don't think I am a racist but in today society most teenagers considers others who doesn't listen to such music as racists. I just want to know do you consider me as a racist just because I don't listen to rap? Again I apologize if I am being offended, I have no desire for such.

No, not at all. Anybody can like/dislike any style of music. That is just what makes you, you. Perhaps you like reggae, country, classical, Big Band, heavy metal, the old Musicals, Irish bagpipe, Andes' pipe music, American Native flute music, East Indian, etc., so what? They are being stereo-typical; in a 'crowd'. boo. Just be yourself!
You learn to like all kinds of stuff as you get older, anyway. [I've seen Kiss twice, I don't especially like it now... big whoop; but I still enjoy having watching Bob Marley years ago!] Heck, I've learned about Mongolian throat singing...it's ok.. I could listen to more. No biggie.
It's just about appreciating the music as an art form or how it makes you feel. Don't listen to what 'most teenagers', or older people like myself, tell you about what YOU should listen to. Best wishes!

Its funny how you say teenagers think its racist. Like teenagers are the smartest people. I could care less what a teenager thinks of something I dont like. I like some of that music but lately its been really bad. There is no creativity and rap sound horrible. I understand not liking it but some rappers actually have really amazing lyrics. Not like the majority who rap about stupid things like cars and strippers. But think of it this way, a lot of black people dont like rock or country music. That doesn't make them racist either. Its just a personal opinion. But seriously they need to stop playing "Soulja Boy" on the radio. That has to be the most annoying song in the history of rap music.

No it doesn't. Even though rap was started by black Americans and is part of their culture it doesn't mean you're a racist. Just because a black person dislikes country music doesn't mean he also dislikes Caucasians. Some people prefer GM over Honda and some prefer BMW over Mercedes. Same goes for music. I know some black people that don't like to listen to rap, it's just a matter of preference.

No, you might not like the way they talk which most people don't. i feel you are its ur on preference and how you feel about things. i think that is stupid to think someone is racist just be cause you don't listen to rap music. for one there is white rapers for one and two that would be saying ur racist for not listening to country music. everyone has different taste. if you where racist you would know and have a big hate for just the person color.

I personally HATE rap. It completely sucks. The culture that goes along with it disgusts me. I think that rappers in general do nothing more for society than perpetuate a stereotype(with maybe 2 exceptions). I dislike R&B as well. And in case you didn't notice, teenagers have absolutely no clue about what's going on. They are so insecure that if you aren't exactly like them YOU are the weird one, no questions asked. High school is nothing more than followers. Dumbass*s following dumbass*s. Don't worry if they think you are racist. It's a fad for white kids to try really hard to embrace the black culture, even if they have not a single black kid at their school. They try to "act" black, talk black, dress black, listen to black music and we all know how popular it is for white girls to try to screw as many black guys as she can. If I were black, I think I'd laugh my a*s off at these kids. If it helps, when I was in junior high you were a total loser if you didn't LOVE Hanson....lol. (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with black people, I just think posers are pathetic.

Look at my avatar. I am black and I HATE rap and r&b. I like metal and classical music. It is not racist to not like that music. But while it is not totally racist as in hate racist. It comes across to me as if you are saying that rap and r&b are soley "black music" trust me when I say hip hop culture is not black culture. Most of the artist are black, but that doesn't mean that if a white or whatever race of person doesn't like it that they are racist, because if you ask enought black people, you are sure to come across at least a few that hate rap and r&b, I know I am not the only black person who doesn't. Does that make me a racist?
P.S: I personally was not offended by anything you said, I am just trying to prove my point, just don't see rap as a black music form and think that all blacks like it because they don't. Enjoy whatever music you enjoy listening too, its your right.

Being a racist means you have negative ideas about a particular race. Race has nothing to do with Rap. There are white people, Asian people, east Indian people, just about every race has someone who sings rap. The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. Which means you don't care about it. You don't have to hate it, you just don't listen to it.

I don't feel you are racist based on not liking a specific type of music. I am African American and don't like what most rap is saying and doing. Does that mean I don't like my race? By no means. God created you to be who you are. You are entitled to like what is appealing to you. I don't like heavy metal, but I do like a lot of people who do like it. I don't discriminate against anyone because of their race, gender, or preferences. God knows what is in your heart. Check to see if there are other reasons why someone would say that to you. Then ask yourself within could you be. If you answer yes or maybe, then look at your reason why. If not, be content with who you are. God bless.

I don't like rap either and I don't think I'm a racist. I don't like polka music or mariachi music either and I'm not a huge fan of most country music. I don't think your preference in music makes you racist! I'm sure there are lots of people who don't like rock music or opera, I don't think they are racist at all!!!
It all comes down to your personal likes and dislikes....
