please forgive my ignorance, i've found both eastern and western maps and i don't understand what that means.. i live in australia... so does that mean i use the eastern map?
also, do i align the map with the north direction, or align it with the front enterance to the house?

You will find the results to be the same reagardless of whether you use the eastern map, the western map or no map at all. So just pick one and go with it.

It doesnt matter wherre on the earth that you live.
Sometimes these areas are labeled a little bit differently from feng shui practioner to feng shui practitioner, but generally these areas are wealth, family, self-understanding, fame, health & balance, career, relationships, children & creativity, and helpful friends & travel.

It really doesn't matter, the result is the same.
So use it in whichever direction takes your fancy.
