The reason why I asked this was because when we sleep, it doesn't take very long for the morning (or waking up), it's so quick. You sleep and you wake up so fast (it's like were sleeping for 2 hours or less).

If were awake the whole night, that would take ages for the sun to come up (I've tried it).

Why is that when we sleep, the time goes SO SO fast? Are we ACTUALLY traveling through time?

yes, you ACTUALLY travel forward in time when you sleep, that is why you go to the loo when you wake. Your bladder slowly fills up as the wee hours pass (no pun intended). You also travel forward in team when you are awake.

The time goes so fast because you are consciously unaware of it. The reason the sun seems to take so long to rise when you are pulling an all-nighter is the same reason that a watched pot never boils: whatever we are waiting for and want most of all is going to seem to take longer the more we focus on it.
However, time travel (as in, not normal) does occur whenever you are in motion, due to time dilation, although this is not noticeable until your velocity approaches the speed of light.
Here is a link to a blog-ish type thing I wrote about time travel... you can read it if you are really that interested in it. While we are sleeping is actually one of the only times that we are NOT traveling through time!!!

Time is a human concept which may not really exist. Perhaps the life of a fly, which seems like 24 hours to us, is like a thousand years for a fly, how could we ever know what other creatures perception of time is?
If you think you speed through time when you sleep, then maybe you do. But have you ever watched someone else sleep? Was time speeding by then? Not for you.

The speed of time does not change while we are sleeping. Just our perception of it.

We are traveling through time all the time. Time is constant.

I agree with geomatic, besides, I sleep so poorly, I can feel time passing while I sleep. I would love to sleep so soundly that time passes instantaneously like you do.

I don't think so.Otherwise I would have a full head of hair and all my own teeth. However...when I wake up..I'm still bald and ugly.
