You burned 1/2 * 3/4 = 3/8 of them
So you burned 3/8 * 450 = 168.75
and have 5/8 * 450 = 281.25 left
- if it's allowed to count hats in quarters.

If not, you round up, so 169 and 281

Half of 3/4 is 3/8.

3/8 of 450 is 168.75

So I guess you need to burn 169 hats unless you can burn 3/4 of a hat.

450* 1/2 * 3/4 =168.75
==> You have left:281.25

PS: The number here is not integer so I think there must be sth wrong with your question. I would be Ok if you had 400 hats. :D

That's a really weird problem.

3/4 of 450 = 3*450/4 = 1,350/4 = 337.5

Half of that = 168.75

So (for whatever reason) you have burned 168.75 hats.

How many remain? Subtract from 450

450 - 168.75 = 281.25 hats remain

ok thats funy..who burns hats?..i guess you cant wear all of them that's why you burn 'em right? lol
but seriously..its fairly simple.....
450 hats . three quarters is about 337 whole hats and a half of a hat. half of that are 168 hats and a three quarters of a hat .(the very no. of hats you burned)
About the second question,281 whole hats and a quarter of a hat are still "unburned''
Ps. i didn't use a calculator (earth language: im not a dumb blonde!)

depends on how you handle the remainder. 450 can't be split into 4ths equally.
