I recently went on ortho-tri cyclen lo. My period was usually only 5 days long and now it lasts all week! Since I get it from planned parenthood my only option is ortho-tri cyclen or ortho tri cyclen lo. Is there a way I can take it so I don't get my period on weekends? What am I doing wrong? Why is this happening?!

It's a side effect of the medication. It can occur because of the body trying to adjust to being on the medication but for some women it stays.

I had wanted to try Ortho-Tricyclen for my acne several years ago so asked my doctor about it and she said no. The reason is because of the fact that this pill causes breakthrough bleeding to occur.

I would recommend getting back in touch with the Nurse or doctor there at Planned Parenthood to let them know that you are bothered by this bleeding. If they still insist on the Ortho-Tricyclen check with your city health dept to see if they offer a free women's clinic that might be able to help you.

That became years in the past now, i do no longer take bc pills anymore... i might touch your regularly occurring practitioner b/c 3 weeks is an exceptionally long term to be on your era... good luck!
