Go to your grocery store or local pharmacy and ask for a ear wax removal kit. It comes with a solution and a plunger. The solution is for dissolving the wax and the plunger is used to force warm water in your ear. It's perfectly safe but you must follow the directions. If you lost some hearing from the wax, it's probably impacted on the ear drum and this kit is the fastest and safest way to remove it. I know from personal experience, I lost my hearing in one ear for a 24 hours before I broke down and bought the kit.

"Most cases of earwax blockage respond to home treatments used to soften wax if there is no hole in the eardrum. Patients can try placing a few drops of mineral oil, baby oil, glycerin, or commercial ear wax removal drops, such as Debrox®, Mack's® Wax AwayTM, Murine®, or Physicians' ChoiceTM in the ear. These remedies are not as strong as the prescription wax softeners but are effective for many patients. Rarely, people have allergic reactions to commercial preparations. Detergent drops such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide may also aid in the removal of wax. Patients should know that rinsing the ear canal with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) results in oxygen bubbling off and water being left behind-wet, warm ear canals make good incubators for growth of bacteria. Flushing the ear canal with rubbing alcohol displaces the water and dries the canal skin. If alcohol causes severe pain, it suggests the presence of an eardrum perforation."
do not use ear candles. see:

Well, you dont want to get rid of ALL of your earwax because believe it or not, it actually is protecting your ears. Well, whenever i get too much ear wax, what i do is take hydrogen peroxide and dip a q-tip in it and swab it around the opening(notice i say opening and dont go too too deep! - that can be harmful). Cold, i know, but it definitely helps than dry swabbing and cleans up all of that dirt. And when i said you dont want to get rid of all your ear wax, that means, you just want to leave a thin, thin layer of it, so it can keep protecting your ears. Good luck!!

Trying to clean those ears and they still feel blocked? Go down to the health store or one of those hippie places with incense burning and ask for a pair of ear candles. Directions are on the box. You'll feel fantastic after wards.

A docter can remove it all, even if you try a cue tip (which can be dangerous) you won't get it all out. Everybody needs an occasional cleaning now and then.

-Get a washcloth. Don't use a q-tip, I just learned that that is bad for you.
-Wet the rag.
-Clean the wax out.
