yes...any one that holds you to high standards and believes that you can accomplish those goals, and encourages you to do just that, does affect how you act and how you see yourself

Of course that is a great method to making one a better person to have someone there who will believe in you rise or fall.

Not for me. I make myself a better person. If someone believes in you and you let that ego get to you, you could be a better person. But if someone doesn't believe in you and you wind up failing you're done for. That's why I always believe in myself. No one's beliefs or opinions sway me a bit.

Sure. It gives you incentive to be good if you know there is someone who believes you ARE good. You feel bad when you disappoint them, so you try your hardest to not let them down. Then after trying and trying and trying, you realize that you don't have to try anymore.

I think so. If there is no one who cares or believes in you, why even try. If the only one you have to please is yourself. that may not always be good.
