Trick question.

A presidential term is 4 years at maximum.

The maximum number of years a president can serve is 10 years: 2 years if he or she is succeeding office then 2 full terms.

Each term consists of 4 years. A president can serve a maximum of 2 terms. So the max time a sitting president can serve is 8 years.

The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
So technically one person can be president for 9 years and 364 days maximum. Assuming the current president leaves offices or dies 2 years and 1 day into his term, and the vice president is re-elected twice.

In the United States, a presidential term is four years. I believe that the presidential term in the Russian Federation is also four years. The presidential term in France was seven years (but it seems that it might be shorter now, say five years). In Mexico, the presidential term is six years. I am not aware of the lengths in other countries.

in the US a person can serve as president 10 years.

no person shall be elected to more than 2 terms.

but if someone is vice president and the president dies (s)he becomes president. if the president dies after 2 years, then (s)he is still eligible to be elected 2 more times.

so the full 2 terms (8 years) + the 2 years from taking over as president =10 years

It is total of 8 years in the USA if there is no world war.
Bush has been talking about a world war so I am not sure he is ready to leave office.
