Yes Santorini is very safe. But if you are going to travel alone I would probably choose another destination. The reason is that Santorini, is a VERY romantic place. For that reason it is mostly a couples island. There are not alot of singles there. I would feel out of place alone in Santorini. Sort of like going on the Love Boat by yourself. If you are going to travel alone, why not pick an island where there are many other single people? I would probably suggest Mykonos for traveling alone. Mykonos is a bit of a party place, but it is also a place very easily reached from the port of Rafina. For that reason it gets alot of day trippers from Greece and people just out for a weekend. Both islands are very safe and very beautiful.

Very safe!
I am used to travel alone and in fact I traveled alone to Santorini, too, in 2004, after the Olympic Games.
All I can tell you is that if you are a little sociable person you will never remain alone. I still have friends and talk to people I met there!
I suggest you go for it!
Before you go, you can contact me.

All I want to say is that I am getting upset every time I hear someone asking if it is safe to travel to Greece.

Ok Is it safe to travel to N.Y.???? u know the 9-11?muggers etc

U should know that some countries like to bad mouth other countries for political reasons, to black mail etc.

Santorini to me is for singles too. Both me and a girlfriend met wonderful Italian boyfriends(and Greek ones too!) once when there. It is also nice renting a house with your friends / a friend, esp. overlooking the caldera (the volcano that used to be) in Oia area (pron. ea) . Do not miss the full moon there! Have never seen such a yellow moon! Also Oia is known for its sunset into the endless horizon which merges the sea with the sky!
Must make reservations in summer for all the good restaurants in Ia. try visanto (drink) cheers!

Also, it is revealing about yourself almost always when u travel alone. Go 4 it!

Em.: that's right!: all alone, by myself!

Yes, it's safe. But wherever you go, if you want to be safe alone you must avoid very late at night wild clubbing, drinking, flirting with guys you don't know, especially drunk ones, going to secluded places all by yourself, and driving or riding a motorcycle if you don't know the roads or how to drive. If you go to Santorini and just take the bus or boat to all the attractions at the time when there are people around, there is no problem.

Greece is a safe place compared to many other countries. Especially in the islands. Greeks love tourists and they do their best to make sure they come back.
I love spending time in the Greek Isles. It's like Paradise.

I'm with Is that all there is?,
It's really annoying to hear women complaining about traveling alone.

Big frikkin' deal. Buy a plane ticket and get on the dang plane. It's not that difficult!

Also, if you want to meet guys, we prefer to stalk, I mean approach, you if you are alone. If you are traveling with a bunch of your talky goofy friends, you are too heavily guarded.
