I'm afraid some of the responders to your question, didn't get the play on words about the different brands of cigarettes.

Very good for your tongue in cheek humor.

Thank you,

The Duke of Marlborough was John Churchill - died 1722.
One of Marlborough's daughters married a Spencer - specifically Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland.
Closer ancestors included his paternal grandfather, John Winston Churchill (1822 -1883) and his maternal grandfather Leonard Jacobson/Jerome (died in 1891).
So baby Winston in 1874 was named "Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill." An interesting side note is that Sir Winston's father Randolph died in 1892 - from tertiary syphilis infecting his brain. Mother Jennie Jacobson/Jerome Churchill, who was an American citizen born in Brooklyn, lived until 1921.

D'oh!!

If the prince of wales is the son of the duke of Edinburgh why is he called Charles? And why does the Duke of Edinburgh keep masquerading as some bloke called Philip?

mmm... Maybe their parents wanted to follow churchill's parents' grounbreaking, pioneering example of giving him a forename.

I wonder also if that poor kid, born into poverty in Glasgows gorbals area in the '40's was christened Sir Alex Ferguson by his highly optimistic parents, or if it was a title bestowed on him at a later date? Maybe we'll never know....
