I need a new glass cutting board, but I don't like any of the designs available & I really don't want a clear one. Is it possible to put your own design onto one of these? What is the process that the manufacturers use? I know there are companies that will personalize them for you, but I'm a "do-it-yourselfer" & I'd really like to try it for myself...

Tempered glass is 4-5X stronger than regular glass, extremely durable, scratch-proof, antibacterial, microwaveable, & can withstand heat up to 500 degrees...a perfect tool for food preperation.

for JAN: while there's an extemely slim possibility that tempered glass may chip, there's a FAR greater possibility that you'll get splinters or plastic shavings in your food from traditional cutting boards.

Are you serious? I have never heard of a tempered glass cutting board. It sounds like the most foolish idea I have ever heard of. Why would anyone want to cut anything let alone food on glass? Tempered or not it still could chip. The possibility of getting glass in food seems to great. That is very scary to me.
A piece of plastic won't cut up my insides. I have seen tempered (safety glass) broken the risk is not worth it.

Actually without at all knowing or caring what it does to knives; I know tempered glass. First of all; like plate glass it's POURED, then "TEMPERED, and not at all meant to be CUT.

Second: While I have seen contractors through 22 OZ. Hammers at store front glass; I've also seen huge sheets of it BLOW UP if a corner was slightly tapped.

Certainly there are Teflon and acrylic that offer the same surface.

While everyone is telling you, you should use glass. I get it. It's pretty and not everyone is a master chef. That being said, check out CafePress or some other places that will let you customize it. I saw cutting boards on cafepress (glass) just not sure it is tempered glass.

No chef would use a glass cutting board. It would dull his knives after one use. Why do you think cutting boards are made of wood or nylon?

Corningware made white glass cutting boards/counter protectors a few years ago. Not very big sellers. In fact, a stupid idea.
