The Avs got outshot by the Flames tonight 41-22, they won in OT on a goal by Ryan Smyth. Theodore was in goal and played spectacularly. I'll admit that both goals he let in were stoppable, but he made at least 5 great highlight reel saves to make up for that. The game was tied by Marek Svatos with 4 mins left. Just 23 seconds into OT Sakic got a 2 on 1 with Smyth, passed it over and Smyth scored. Now, get this: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/boxscore;_ylt=AoXOJxjD.2nzRFFLk22xItR7vLYF?gid=2007102603 Are you kidding me???? Alex Tanguay???? Matthew Lombardi???? These guys scored a goal each and they are #1 and #2 stars of the game???? What about Theodore, the guy who pretty much singlehandedly won the game??? What about Super Joe, he had a goal and the game-winning pass to Smyth??? He scored his 1600th point tonight and he's the #3 star???? Whoever picks the stars should be fired. Is this the worst 3 star selection you've ever seen or what?

LITY: OK, they played well, but their team lost!!! The Avs were horrendously outplayed and they won!! How is Theodore not even a star??? That's absurd!!!

On a sidenote; Sakic scored his 1600th point, Brunette scored his 500th point, and Quenneville reached the 400 wins plateau.

Hmm, er.... yeah, they did whistle off a goal... ummmm. But that's not important! The Avs won! That's what's important lol. Seriously, that was a bad call. With all the bad calls the Avs got last season, it's nice to be on the other side for a change.

Joe did just get the "big moment" or whatever that is, on FSN Final Score.....I like seeing him do well, as long as it's not against the Wings.

Didn't Calgary get a goal whistled off, that was clearly a goal?

Oh well, I don't care for Calgary either.

I know what you mean by bad calls....Holmstrom has had 3 interference calls so far this season, all resulting with goals being called off, none really being actual interference. The one vs the sharks tonight didn't really matter, they already had 5.....wait, it did matter, Zetterberg would have scored it, and he is on my fantasy team!!!!!

No love for the goalies that is messed up. The game was in calgary so I can understand why they picked 2 of their own. But sakic should have been the first star. But the truth is goalies and quarterbacks are treated the same. If a qb plays great he will get some praise but not as much as the receivers and rb's etc. Goalies will get all of the criticism like the qb but when they win unless they make like upwards of 50 saves none of the praise. I think the score would have to be 2 or 3 to 0 for the goalie to be recognized.

Actually no. I watched the game and while I would have put Theodore ahead of Sakic, Tanguay and Lombardi played extremely well the entire game. Charlie Simmer is very well-respected for his work.

Mike,
I agree that Theodore should have been a star, but the three stars are supposed to the best players on the ice regardless of which team wins, and tonight, there were very few Avs that hustled. Sakic doesn't know how to play any other way - but Stastny, Woitek, and Liles disappointed me.

The 3 stars often is one of those thing that make us shake our heads. Luongo was the 3rd star in his loosing effort against Detroit the other day and he faced fewer shots the Jose and lost the game to boot. You would like to think that if you're going to give one of the Stars to the loosing team it's in a situation more like Luongo where he was stopping shot after shot not giving it to a guy from the loosing team that scored an even strength goal and still manages to finish -1 on the night. Stopping 39 of 41 deserves a star!

Wow.

If you get this fired up over the three stars of a regular season game that you didn't even play in (that your team won anyway), what do you do when you burn toast? Throw the rest of the loaf on the ground and stomp it flat? haha

I think you just might be a hothead, dude. I have heard about the Russian temper, don't ever start drinking vodka, you will probably kill someone. lol

The worst action picture I honestly have ever considered is the understanding.. ugh i hated it, it change into poor!!!!! i recommend, the start change into honestly fairly sturdy and that i theory it change into going to be a fairly sturdy action picture, yet in the direction of the middle of the understanding, it all started going downhill until eventually it finally hit all-time low: the ending.

I didn't get to see the game, but by looking at the box score those stars suck!
