Old wives tale

The brain is fully utilized, as any brain scan will bear out.

The reference is an educated guess as to how much we understand how the brain works.

The trick would not be to use more of the brain, but to learn how to retain it. Brain cells are the only major human cells that do no repair themselves. So we lose function as we get older, and are increasingly less capable of using our hard-earned wisdom even as we reach the point when we should have the most of it. As more of us are living into a second century, can you imagine the enlightenment and problem solving capability of a 100 years of experience in the brain of a twenty year old?

I agree with Wolf. Right now humans are almost entirely left-brain dominated and a great deal of what we don't use is abstract right-brained stuff that we can't even imagine.

People now can use between 1% and 10%, the figures vary, it just depends on the individual. Shortsighted folks who can only see left-brained endeavors such as memorizing books, learning languages and building bombs are obviously on the lower end of that scale.

I guess we'd all be able to speak every language known to humanity, and memorize every book in the Library of Congress.
I'm sure there would be horrible weapons invented too. Ones that would make a mega-ton nuclear warhead look like childsplay in comparison.
I think i am perfectly content with humans wasting most of their brain, thank you...
:D

Wait till you get to God's kingdom, He will show you how. Using our whole brains? Well we don't have the imagination to think of what we could do.

It's more like 3%. Telepathy, instant manifestation, levitation, astral projection, time travel, telekinesis, that type of thing.

ADD: life extension, seeing into other dimensions/past and future lives, control of automatic bodily function such as slowing down heart rate, holding breath to stay underwater longer, anything that's mind over matter.

I could answer that....

...but then I'd have to turn on the rest of my brain,
and Men in Black made me promise not to do that again.

What's the point in achieving big-big things.... all we need to know is that use of intelligence does not guarantee peace and happiness.... if at all, it seems to be inversely proportional... the more intelligent one is, one seems to be less happy and peaceful.

if we used 100% that ONLY thing we would accomplish is the self destruction of the human race. humans are intelligent enough and look at the things we have done.
