We just bought this vehicle from someone who was leasing it, its an 05 wrx everything is stock, it only has 30k miles, and something is leaking from under the heat guard next to the left side of the motor.. what could it be?? its leaking a decent amount, enough to make a foul smell when we stop, its right above the exhaust pipe, so its burning on it.. !! what are the possiblities, and some prices possibly???

Is it still under warranty? if yes, take it to a Subaru dealer asap. Majority of the time oil leaks are expensive repair.

could be the valve cover, however some subaru's have a tsb or technical service bulliten, for coolant leaking from the head gasket in that area, they do have a procedure to fix this however if it does not work then it will need a head gasket

I would guess the valve cover is leaking oil. Could just need tighten or may need new gasket. Pretty simple job. I would guess 1 hour labor
