Find out what exactly is causing your depression, as only you know the real reason. I'm sure there is one.

When you do, or if you already do, then you have to find a way to solve whatever problem you have in your life, or what is the main cause.

After all, depression is an effect, and there must be a cause.

If you don't think you can do it yourself, it's also wise to consult a psychiatrist or any other kind of speciialized professional.

Make a serious effort to exercise regularly, continue to do the things you used to enjoy, eat regularly and a healthy diet, avoid the crap and try to stop the negative thoughts. This is hard work when depressed, so the help of a good cognitive behavioral therapist will do well. CBT is usually covered by insurance companies because it short term therapy with the same success rate as antidepressant medication in treating mild to moderate depression. You may also want to consider couples counselling, so your spouse can develop a greater understanding of what you are going through. Medication may also be needed to treat depression.

Hi!

One of the ways is thru deep relaxation. it can help to relieve the anxiety that often accompanies depression. it can also help stress-related somatic problems, such as headaches and backaches. In addition, relaxation exercises can help one to achieve deep relaxation quickly and discreetly, even in the presence of others.

Another effective method to relieve yourself from depression is through exercise. Intense physical exercise very often gives people an enhanced sense of well-being. Going for a 30 minutes gym work-out or run, will help to make you feel better for the rest of the day. Studies have shown that intense exercise causes the body to release chemicals such as endorphins that will make you feel better.

you can also try biodfeedback, which is a mind-body therapy that can teach you how to relax. it involves monitoring aspects of your physical state such as your heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature and muscle tension. As you become more aware of your internal physical state, you learn to control it consciously, so that with practice you can relax at will.

I would definitely talk to a professional about that situation. I'm on an antidepressant med. & it has made a world of difference in my life. My Dr. explained there nothing wrong w/being depressed, lots of folks have that problem & there's nothing wrong w/them. Just their chemical make up. But, there are lots of meds. available, why suffer when you can do something about it. Definately talk to your Dr. about it, there's nothing to be ashamed about it. Feel better & live a happy life.

as much as you need to talk to people like coucellors and friends, you also need time to yourself, to figure out what you are really depressed about, and how to deal with it.

Having friends that you can talk to is really good, because they have to be able to listen to you, even if they are not able to give you advice, they can still listen, and a depressed person needs someone to talk to.

depressed people often think

"i dont want to tell someone because its embarressing"

" they wont listen to me"

"they dont care"

"they wont understand"

.. but believe it or not..almost everyone has experienced depression, they might not be able to help you on the exact "subject" of your depression but they will know how you feel ..and they will also be able to help you deal with it.

Self work.
You are the only one who can take care of yourself and come out of it.
Get busy and focussed, find activities to be involved in, try YOGA, join Gym...keep yourself busy and be with friends and family...anything that makes you strong and blessed.

Try therapy...and try not getting on the anti depression drugs...
too much withdrawl symptoms and adverse efffects.

Tell your doctor. the meds are much better than they were just a few years ago even.

Also, are you drinking? If so, you cannot overcome your depression until you achieve sobriety.

Good luck.
