It really SHOULDN'T matter. Personally, though, I am more impressed when somebody gets something for cheap. If something is really cool, and you paid a lot of money for it, then it SHOULD be cool. That's what you paid for! But, if something's really cool, and you got a good deal on it, then it makes it even better because you now have something cool that you didn't have to dish out as much cash for. Pretty simple.

It depends on what it is. If it's a brand new flat screen tv and you got it cheap, I say 'way to go', but I'm not impressed when someone buys something cheap and the quality of it is cheap as well.

Well I am much more impressed with myself when I get a good deal! I LOVE bargain hunting! But for guys they usually aren't all into the sale thing so it might be a bit weird for some girls to hear that. When someone gets something really expensive I do tend to stare. If you don't tell me what you paid and its nice then I'm all good! lol!

I think getting it cheap for sure! Its always a good feeling to get a good deal on something!
Think of it this way....say your shopping for clothes...and you set yourself a budget....if you shop sales and buy comparable things to the expensive things but spend less....then you have more of your budget left to buy more things....so you actualy get more things! Now thats a good feeling!
People who think its better to spend tons of money on stuff have material posession issues. And thats not all there is in life. Like these people you see walking around in abercrombie shirts and pants. Do you know how expensive abercrombie pants are?!? Around $150-200 bucks! How obsurd! Thats half my flipping car payment! I can go to Kohls or JCPenny and pay $30 bucks for jeans made the same way in the same countries as abercrombie and still pay my bills!

What impresses most is that you spent a lot on it but considering how much these things usually cost, it was cheap, a real bargain on a treasure.

Got it cheap.
Anyone can just throw money at something. You've got to work a little to get the good stuff cheap.

I'd be impressed to hear a guy talking about something and NOT MENTIONING how much it cost.
If you're out to impress someone, your best bet is to just be a cool, approachable, open person with a great sense of humor. That'll get you farther than anything you can buy.

That you got it for cheap. You don't have to spend money like crazy to have nice or cool things. If you told me you spent a fortune on something, I would consider you a show off who puts too much value on material posessions.

The word "cheap" has a negative impact on me. Let me paraphrase your question and answer that and you can see if my answer fits what you were looking for.
"Which would impress you most, that I buy something very expensive or that I buy the same item at a bargain price?"
Looking at it THAT way my answer is: Conspicuous consumption is a turn OFF to me, on the other hand someone who can efficiently shop for a premium item and ultimately acquire it at a bargain deserves respect for their patience and good money sense.

Well if it is the same exact item (I am assuming) Than paying a lot of money for something just means you're not good with money, but if you got it for cheap than you're good with money. You're a dumbass for paying a lot for something.
