What i mean is that it seems silly to abhor a film that one has not even seen and base one's opinion on what others might have said...that being said, I really, really, loved that movie. It's hauntingly (is that a word?) beautiful.
And to those who think in terms of gender binaries (girls wear pink, boys wear blue, "chick flicks", etc.,etc, then YES, stay away from this movie. It might open your narrow mind a bit too much.)

You know what really drives me crazy? Brokeback's sex scenes weren't graphic at all, yet people think they are offensive. But movies like Borat with a fat hairy guy slapping his nuts in another dudes face is fine.

I dont think it is fear, or that the tv is going to zap out some gay vibes and make the viewers gay themselves, or that they're homophobes. I'd be willing to bet that most men are NOT gay, and as a result, don't actively pursue movies that surround a gay theme.

I had absolutely no idea what the movie was about when I first heard the title...it wasn't until the brokeback jokes surfaced that I inquired as to what the jist of the movie was. Two gay cowboys in love was all I needed to hear to disway me from watching the film. Am I afraid if I watch the movie I might leave my wife in pursuit of gay bliss? Not at all. Am I afraid of being offended by the movie? Nope, from what I've heard its not all that graphic anyways. I just don't feel like wasting an hour and 30 hearing about how two lonely souls found their way to eachothers backside out west....lol.

However, had it been two lonely females waiting for their mates to come home busying themselves with one another by "embracing" each other; called Brokeback Kitchen or something, I'm sure men would line up in droves.

Amazing how that logic doesn't seem to apply to women nearly as much...my wife has absolutely no interest in seeing the movie either...in fact, I think she actively detests it more than I.

I don't know because the intimate stuff between the too guys is really not graphic at all except them kissing at one point. I suppose the whole message of the movie bothers them because some guys are so afraid that anybody thinks they are gay or would have any sympathy or compassion for a couple of guys who fall in love they feel compelled to say that they wouldn't want to watch that movie.

I dont want to be rude. But it isnt because were afraid we might like it. Its because it seems 10 times worse than a chick flick. Alot of guys dont enjoy chick flicks. So to have a similar movie but with no chicks involved is even worse. And I just dont like seeing guys being intimate with each other. It may be immature I know but its just something i cant watch....

There are three possible reasons:
1. It just may not be their type of movie. Most guys wouldn't watch the notebook and that has no guy-on-guy action.
2. They aren't confident enough with their sexuality.
3. Peer pressure. Most guys want to do what the other guys do.

It was silly, I thought. If they really loved each other, they would have been together. It was written and filmed and acted by heterosexuals. What do str8's know of gay men loving each other? Only what they see in the movies.

Mostly because it really was not all that great of a movie.

I dont care if its a love story between a dolphin and a woodchuck, if the movie stinks it stinks.

I'm not a guy but I wouldn't watch it either. I'm not afraid, I jsut find it disgusting. If two guys wanna make out, they can do it all they want, but I don't wanna see it.

Most people don't even have enough sense to realize it is a love story.
