I'm 5"8" and at size 10, I've always thought of myself as "big." Would most people consider that "fat?" What adjective would you use to describe a woman like that?

Who cares, learn to accept who you are. Like Tyra Banks says, "so what?!"

No a US size 10 is not too big, and especially not at 5ft8. It's a nice size for you.

Whether someone is fat or not actually has little to do with their clothes size. Your waist should not be over 32.5-33 inches (at 5ft8) and your body fat should not be over 30%.

As a size 10 waist is around 29-30 inches, you would actually have to be under 5ft for this to be considered unhealthy. Don't let hollywood stereotypes distort your thinking.

In the1950's the average woman was 5ft3 and a size 8, now 5ft9 women want to be a size 2....society is messed up you know.

a size 12 is a normal American woman so you're smaller than the average woman. I don't think a size 10 is fat at all. I'm a size 16 and around where I live, not even I get called fat. It's all just a matter of opinion.

You're tall so you're probably fine at a size 10. It's more about proportion, build, and overall fitness. I'm 5'3" and small boned. If I'm wearing a size 8, to me, I'm fat. But that's not true for everyone. A size 10 woman can be tall or have a thicker build, but if she's athletic and toned, she'll look healthy and sexy. A woman who is 5 feet tall and a size 10 because she sits around scarfing McDonalds all the time might want to change some things.

As long as you take care of your body, it will take care of you. If you're already doing that then you have nothing to worry about.

Not at all!!!!
Your really really tall and like me because of the tallness I have a bigger size then most of my friends. A 10 is definately not fat for us tall people.. = ]
I'm 5'8.5 and size 9...theres nothing wrong with a ten.

Just love who you are and people won't care about what size jeans you wear....it all comes down to personality

Heck, if people are calling you "fat" for being a size 10 at 5'8, I must be morbidly obese for being a size 14 at 5'9! I, too, have always considered myself big and would describe myself as being athletically built. Sure, I could stand to lose a few pounds but I don't consider myself fat.

All jean brands vary in size. I mean, I am 5'10" and am able to wear anywhere from a size 6 to a size 9/10. People always tell me I'm too skinny, so I highly doubt you are fat.

No! I really don't know what is up with women now a days. Men don't care what waist size you are as long as u look good. Its not like men look at what size pants you wear before he takes u out on a date or something.

Good heavens, no! 5'8" is tall. I know someone who is 5'6" and wears an 8, and she's skinny as a rail. Looks good, mind you, but certainly doesn't need to lose an ounce. You don't need to be shaped like a fashion model. Have you ever seen one of them naked? Bones sticking out everywhere, not attractive at all.

Don't worry. Sizes aren't standardized. In one store you are a 10, in another a 6 and maybe even a 12 somewhere else. And anyway, those silly measurements aren't a measure of your beauty, they are silly and a marketing ploy. Don't fall for it.
