ha ha ha I have no idea the answer to that, but that is one of the funniest questions and visuals!!!
I'm cracking up just picturing it...your car with stuff stacked on top almost toppling over like a Dr. Seuss cartoon!
...sorry, maybe it's just me :)
thanks for the laugh, though!

As high as the police officer thinks is safe. If you are more that half the height of the car, you will probably be stopped. If you are over 13' 6" (4.1 m) you will definitely be stopped and charged. If you have that much stuff, get a trailer and make sure the stuff is secure and can't fall off. Also, have a big enough engine in the car to pull the load. People think trucks are a nuisance because they take so long to accelerate, but what about a car that can barely get moving because of the load it is pulling?

I dont know, but dont do that stuff that Fred Flintstone did.. he got that big slab of brontosaurus ribs put on the side of his car, and over he went... now, here in the Dominican Republic you can pile it as high as you want, and no one seems to care.. also, I believe in India it is the same, since I keep hearing about buses that are loaded with like 200 people coming back from a wedding going over a cliff.. happens all the time (that and monkey and elephant attacks)

you can pile only as high as is safe for your vehivle size
weight. You still must have full visiability. Tying a red scarf
or something helps alert other drivers. My rule of thumb is it
must be safe for ME as well as other travelers.

if the officer thinks there is a danger to others and that things may fall off, he will stop you.
