is there a command that will restore my computer to its state like a week ago? i deleted my sound drivers and codecs accidentally when i did disk clean up, however the computer thinks there still there and since theres a, sound driver in my device manager my comp thinks evrything is all right. and because of that i cant un istall it or reinstall it, when i right click them all it shows is peoperties, scan for updates and update since it is the current version i cant do anything, and i dont think even if they came out with a new driver in windows update it would make a difference without the codecs. so far the only helpfull answer that i would have done was to format my computer, but i think i need the cds for xp which i dont have cuz my computer came with xp, please if there is a command i can do to just put an end to this id greatly appreciate it.

System Restore. WinXP: Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>System Restore,(upper left side) Click on System Restore. There will be a window that comes up, and tells you that you may lose some programs, and documents, do you want to proceed? If you only go back, a week or so, or a month, chances are they're still there, so the answer is Yes! You'll see a calendar next, and date/s that are in BOLD numbers,(like the BOLD here). If you don't see any, use the Forward/Back arrows at the top. Click on Back, to go back a previous month. Click on the BOLD date, sit back, drink a Dew. Restart the computer, if it doesn't ask you to. Should have drivers back.

In XP is called "Restore Point"! It will roll back the Operating System to a previous date. One caveat you have to religiously back up the "Restore Point" for this to work.

To do a "Restore Point" do the following:

Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F8 key until the following message comes up "Boot from last known good configuration."

To restore to its state one week ago:
1. start pc and push F8 (function key) repeatedly while it starts
2. choose boot to last known good configuration
3. voila!

However, if you deleted stuff it may not work. You could go to Control Panel and Device manager. Then delete your sound card. When you reboot it will reload the proper drivers and codecs.

try uninstalling it in safe mode (tap f8 on boot to get there) and use klite codec pack for the codecs (dont install media player clasic tho, gay)
