you should know that taking care of turtles is not easy and has cost me over $300 for mine.
If they get sick you need to take them to the vet too.
And for your feeding problems, do not give them fish food! That is very bad for them. Your turtles just need to get used to their enviroment right now and then they will start eating the pellets.
And fish, worms, krill, shrimp, and all that kind of fatty stuff should only be monthly treats. You dont want your turtles to start pyramiding do you?
I say you should go out and start doing reseach on these turtles and if you can take care of them you should give them to someone who can.
You should also be feeding your turtles veggies like lettuce, carrots, and all the other ones.
Turtles are more carnivorous when they are younger but when they grow up they like plant matter better.
Fruit should also only be given as a treat monthly.
How big is your tank? Your turtles need at least 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell they have.
Sorry if i sound mean but i really am just tryin to tell you a proper way to take care of turtles.
Please go to the site and ask questions there. Since I signed up there my turtles have been living a much better life than before. Like you I have hatchling turtles too. The people here really mistreat their turtles and people should start to understand that turtles are not different than cats or dogs or any other animal and they need proper care too.
If you have anymore questions e-mail me anytime. I allow it on my profile.

I have 8 red eared sliders of various sizes. The oldest is 21 years old. We got him as a baby at the size you describe. They are in an outside pond (900 gallon) during the late spring to early fall. For the winter they are separated into different aquariums indoors.

My red eared sliders all eat differently. Try the following:

- turtle food sticks
- koi pellets
- Large cichlid pellets
- romaine lettuce
- feeder goldfish or minnows (they will catch them)
- crickets (live or freeze dried)
- earthworms

It's good to vary their diet. One piece of advice, avoid mealworms. They will eat them but have trouble digesting them. I lost two turtles before I found this out.

I'm getting 2 RES too! I've searched a lot of informations online, and found that u can also feed them carrots, beans, lettuces, just put them in the water and they'll eat it. Or if u don't want to mess the water u can put them in a seperate box for feeding and then put them back after they r finished. Hope i helped. :P

hi, i've been keeping RES' for years now. from my experience, when they are young they tend to seek out more animal protein. and when they are old, they prefer veggies more.
you could try feed them live small crickets, diced mealworms, live small feeder fishes, some slices of veggies and the usual turtle pellets.

Try to feed them on dried brine shrimp from pet store, and rember they need a source of unfiltered sunlight to digest any food. a reptile light, ect.
