I'm currently at Key Bank and am having serious issues with them. After mentioning this to several people, I guess they're a really BAD bank to be with (I haven't heard one good thing).
My grandma (who often makes deposits into my account - yay grandma!) suggested that I switch to Chase bank (her bank - would make it easier to transfer money haha). Does anyone know anything about Chase bank that would be helpful in making this decision, or any other bank for that matter? I intend to thoroughly do my research this time, instead of going to a bank because it's giving out free iPods with their accounts...though I'm honestly not surprised they had to resort to that with their terrible service!
Thanks in advance!

1- I'm not a student, I'm 20 and quit school because I couldn't afford it at the time, but Grandma is fairly rich and wants to make sure I have money :)
2 - LOL to the ceramic pig comment, you made me giggle because it was cute, but they don't offer direct deposit and check cashing :P
3 - Aren't there certain requirements to belong to a credit union? And wouldn't it be better to be at a more nationally recognized bank so if I move I don't have to move the account with me? (I was at my parents' credit union until I moved out of the city, but I couldn't keep it when I moved which is why I switched to Key).

Chase is an awesome bank! Easy online banking, nice people, and even a great credit card company. This is the best bank I have ever had!

Not sure where yo live because I never heard of Key Bank in my state. I fond of Washington Mutual Bank. They have good saving plans, and a free checking account with intrest for students. Sound like if Grandma makes deposits for you - maybe you're a student. Check into it.

Keep in mind that the level of service from one branch location in a bank to another will be greatly different depending on the people operating that branch. If your account is simply for holding money, you will not find much of an advantage in completely switching banks, as most banks offer that standard level of service. You will want to develop a long-term relationship with your bank for investment purposes, IRAs, mortgages, and loans...keep this in mind, and if you feel your level of service is not satisfactory, speak with a branch manager, or use a different branch.

Best bet is Bank of America. I have 3 accounts. I have savings, checkings and credit. Bank of america depending on ur age...has campus edge checking for free for 5 yrs, if ur 18 and under. Savings are great with them because they have "keep the change" and other ways to save without paying monthly fees. Although I am 18, Bank of america does great financially and great protection on identity theft.

I would go get an account with a local credit union. I have had an account with Langley FCU for 5 years with no problem whatsoever. I think credit unions are better plus if you need a loan and you have an account with them they can work with you.

It really depends on what you are looking for in a bank. I use a couple banks. One is conveinient. And one for good interest rates, it is an on line bank and i have had very good luck with it.

Those ceramic pigs work real well.

When they're full, you just break them open. No lines, tellers, ATM's, etc.
