I'm sure most of us have seen it in action, right? So, why is it frequently shrugged off?

All of us have intuition. I think women are more likely to act on it, however. Perhaps women are more inclined to acknowledge their feelings and look for their source, and more willing to accept those feelings as legitimate even if they can't find concrete "evidence" to support the idea of where those feelings came from. I think perhaps men look for the source, too, but if they can't find a "concrete" source, they are more likely to disregard the whole thing as being irrational. ("Out of sight, out of mind.") I think intuition is what you could rightly call a "sixth sense." And it is rarely wrong. Just listen to what your gut tells you...be in tune with how you feel, physiologically-speaking- if you get goosebumps, or a tightness in your chest or stomach, or the little hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you're getting "signals" that you may be in some kind of danger. Many people shrug these off, or try to rationalize these feelings...they talk themselves out of listening to what their bodies are trying to tell them. They think that they need scientific proof or "evidence" of something being amiss, in order to act upon it. Not so. It's there to protect us from harm. Children and animals don't rationalize this. When they don't like someone, they let you know. A child may be uncharacteristicly clingy, or a dog may bark uncontrollably and viciously at someone who "seems friendly" to you or I. Pay attention to these things: kids and animals don't have the "filters" we have to disregard this information. It comes to them in a pure sense, and they react to it. I can think of no case where this kind of intuition has later been proven to be wrong.

Womens intuition and the way I see it is something acheived better with women more than men. It is an importanr part of our sixth sense. Yes a lot of people will discredit this because there is nothing scientific about it..Being clairvoyant and the local fortune teller for many years it is always fresh in my mind that some people just don't want to believe this stuff.

This may be something that was looked upon as dangerous many years ago. It was the Christian church and the Romans that played down women and their abilities. Before this time women were very much respected by everyone male and female. They had this unique power and during those times they depended upon this "sixth sense" for the survival of the race.

However some very well educated men from the Greek schools developed in Rome ways of controling people. Because women were able to see this happening women became a big threat to their power.

Thi is when all the Female Goddesses were placed down and given names of Saints. They , the men of Rome then started the witch hunts and the destruction of any woman that was known to possess these powers. These powers were a very strong tool for Women and for their communities.

However for the Romans to convert the Jews they had to make a God more attractive to them Well this they did and they did it very well and have controled people ever since then.

Well enough said for this but we all would have been better off if women were the ones that directed our destiny. There would probably be less violence. It is just too bad that so many people shrug off this wonderful talent. May women rise to power soon.

Maybe because people (men?) don't tend to give credence to something they can't see proven scientifically. Though good scientists should be able to prove it . Maybe the interest will be there one day for that ... maybe right after we come up with a comfortable mammogram?:)

On the subject of intuition... I have a theory that intuition comes from some ancient inherited memories and are passed in a weak form through generations. Rather like ancient warning signals for danger or that certain similar circumstances awake the memory enough to give us that feeling. Ok I realize thats a strange thing to have a theory on... maybe it's intuition LOL

I don't think many people shrug it off. I think many feel it is real. Even men talk about "gut feelings" or something "just not feeling right". I think everyone has it. Men are just less likely to use the term "intuition" because it has been associated with being feminine.

I think women shrug that feeling off themselves too. And probably more than we should. I know there's been many times when I don't quite feel right about something and it turns out that feeling was right. Of course, the reverse can be said too, lol. I've had odd feelings that turned out to be slightly paranoid.

Intuition is difficult to quantify. Having an "bad feeling" about something isn't very descriptive either. That's usually what intuition is; a feeling about something, either good or bad. It's just a sudden impulse, and due to its nature it is easily dismissed.

Because it is nothing more than common sense. Men and women alike have this power to deduce from life experiences.

It is a myth because it is not what women try to portray it as.

Its like playing slot machines. You hear about the win and never hear about the loss

Because it is an urban myth. Women who believe they have female intuition are in fact arrogantly labelling their wild guesses as correct, and should in fact believe in logic and reasoning, like the rest of us.

Intuition is not gender-specific. Men and women both are intuitive.

Because women are worriers...eventually your gonna worry about something happening that comes true and you say its your intuition. But all those times you thought something bad was gonna happen and nothing did are not mentioned.

Because it goes against scientific materialism (two words I hate seeing beside each other, by the way).
