Exactly! I adore Harry Potter. I loved everything about it, I've read each one nine or ten times. Of course, I know that there are other books out there, but just because you don't enjoy doesn't mean you ruin it for the people that do. And yes, it encouraged kids everywhere to read, and isn't that a reward in itself?

People really love the books, the world she created and the characters who populate the books. They love them so much that they think hard about them and come up with different conclusions, which lead to arguments.

If the series weren't so good, there wouldn't be this level of argument, speculation, etc.

On the whole, I prefer things as they are, since the alternative is books that didn't spark people, in which case, they'd have ended with CoS.

The true question is: Why can't those who don't, leave those that do in peace? Stop criticizing them of liking a piece of fluff that isn't or will never be a classical work of literature, or accusing them of being nerds without a life. It seems to me as if you have less of a life if you're surfing the internet looking for people to, preach to about getting a life, to give yourself the illusion that your dreary existence is so much better than it really is, you can even share your enlightenment with others....:p

Honestly. For heaven's sakes. Why CAN'T they? Goodness gracious.

I LOVE Harry Potter books, and I already fricking thought someone was gay but it didn't matter coz that's not what the story's EVER about.

The stories lack originality and are not particularly well written,
but then they were aimed at a very young age group so they have to be a bit simplistic.

My kids love them and can, with a bit of help, read them.

If you look at the puerile trash they get given at school, it is not surprising that they encourage young children to read and that is marvellous!
